To strengthen our team in the area of GSC Global Health & Safety in Trier/Germany, we are looking for a GSC Global Health & Safety Director (m/f/d) in permanent employment. 
 

Your job mission: 
In line with GSC MGSM (Mission Goals Strategies Measures), this position is responsible for developing Global Supply Chain Health & Safety roadmap, strategic initiatives and objectives, creating a sustainable and continuously improving Safety culture. 
The position is accountable for driving effective execution of best-in-class H&S initiatives, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards and regulations, and tracking and continuously improving H&S performance. 
This position is a member of Operational Performance Improvement team, working very closely with all GSC functions and regions, contributing to the overall GSC strategy development and thought leadership.

Your tasks: 

  • Health & Safety Strategy: Develop and align GSC (Leaf operations, Manufacturing sites, Warehouses) Health & Safety strategy and roadmap with GSC Mission, Goals, Strategies & Measures ensuring regional strategies support global targets 
  • EHS Pillar Ownership: Lead the Global EHS Pillar, set IWS H&S expectations, design strategic KPIs, and manage Global H&S PDCA and Change Management processes.
  • Competency Building: Build H&S competency across GSC, ensuring regional/local EHS leads and Daily Management System Owners (MSOs) are qualified.
  • Accident Prevention & Incident Management: Establish a proactive accident prevention program and lead global incident investigations to eliminate incidents.
  • H&S Training: Manage the global health & safety training matrix by job, function, and region to ensure consistent training and communication.
  • Compliance & Certification: Conduct regular EHS compliance assessments, lead regulatory compliance, drive ISO certifications, and manage Dangerous Goods globally.
  • Safety Culture: Foster a strong safety culture within GSC, ensuring safety is prioritized, visible, and reinforced through open communication and recognition.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation in global H&S standards, training, and tools, ensuring alignment with corporate H&S philosophy.
  • People Management: Motivate and develop the professional skills of direct and indirect team members.

 

Your profile: 

  • University degree or higher with a strong focus on EHS or Safety Management. EHS qualifications and certificates as per local legal requirements
  • 10 years of relevant experience working in EHS, IWS EHS Pillar expertise
  • Fluency in English, proficiency in other languages is a plus
  • Strong background in EHS management systems and risk management
  • Knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, training management and ISO systems
  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication, relationship management and influencing skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Practiced working time model: Possibility of 50% mobile office work within Germany on a monthly basis
