Territory Development Leader

 

The Territory Development Leader is responsible for developing the company’s business within an assigned territory to ensure sustainable growth of JTI brands. The role focuses on achieving sales and distribution targets by executing territory strategies, acquiring consumers, and leading a high-performing field sales team. The incumbent is accountable for team capability building, territory execution excellence, and strong collaboration with cross-functional partners such as Finance, People & Culture, and Field Marketing.
 
As the Territory Development Leader, you will:
 

Sales Strategy & Business Development

  • Achieve territory volume, distribution, and brand KPI targets.
  • Develop and execute territory-level sales plans in collaboration with Area Sales Manager and Field Marketing.
  • Drive a consumer-centric approach through effective consumer acquisition initiatives.
  • Monitor competitor activities, market trends, and consumer behavior to identify growth opportunities.
  • Ensure consistent retail and wholesale pricing aligned with agreed objectives.
  • Implement trade and consumer programs effectively.

Field Coaching & People Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop Product Sales Representatives and Assistant Product Sales Representatives.
  • Conduct regular field coaching, one-on-one sessions, and capability-building trainings.
  • Cascade company priorities, projects, and strategic directions to the team.
  • Drive effective territory, route, and field force planning to meet coverage and distribution objectives.
  • Build a motivated and high-performing team through clear objectives, feedback, and development plans.
  • Support talent identification and recruitment in partnership with People & Culture.

Customer Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key retailers and wholesalers.
  • Manage account performance, including sales achievement, accounts receivable, and execution standards.
  • Assess account growth opportunities and develop action plans.
  • Negotiate commercial terms to deliver profitable business results.
  • Ensure timely resolution of customer requests and concerns.

Control, Compliance & Governance

  • Monitor collection efficiency, credit quality, and aging of accounts.
  • Conduct trade audits, validations, and surveys.
  • Ensure accuracy of customer master data and compliance with return policies.
  • Uphold and promote the Code of Conduct, ensuring ethical behavior and zero-tolerance compliance within the team.
  • Ensure fair and timely handling of administrative and disciplinary cases in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

Sales Information & Administrative Management

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of sales reports and system data.
  • Maintain trade census data and provide timely market feedback to headquarters.
  • Manage allocated budgets, POS materials, and company assets responsibly.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and cascades to align on priorities and best practices.

 

Who we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in any related field
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in field sales, distribution, or trade marketing.
  • Proven people management and coaching experience.
  • Strong understanding of local sales operations and distribution.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.C
  • omfortable using digital tools and basic MS Office applications.
  • Valid professional driver’s license (minimum restriction code 2).
