Position Purpose

The position is under Global Tax function and responsible for assisting Tax & Treasury Manager in tax and treasury matters of JTI Taiwan (JTI TW) and JTI Manufacturing (JTIM).

For the tax matter, the incumbent is responsible for preparing required/supporting documents and assisting Tax & Treasury Manager in various tax projects for both JTI TW and JTIM to ensure full compliance with local tax regulation and JTI Group policy. 

For the treasury matter, the incumbent is responsible for day-to-day cash management and supporting treasury related activities for both JTI TW and JTIM.

The incumbent reports to the Tax & Treasury Manager.


Main Areas of Responsibility

Tax Compliance

  • Manage tax projects, including but not limited to preferential WHT rate applications, tax refund, and stamp duty etc.
  • Support VAT related tasks, including but not limited to the operation and maintenance of the company's account on the e-invoice platform, cooperate with the internal stakeholders, and liaison with the external e-invoice value-added service provider.
  • Support financial statement and income tax return audit and prepare the supporting documents.
  • Prepare and/or review the responses to tax authority's requests and ensure full compliance in statutory and tax aspects.
  • Prepare and/or review transfer pricing related documents.
  • Maintain and update current knowledge of changes in tax legislation, rulings, regulations and litigation that may impact the business.
  • Other duties assigned.


Cash Management

  • Plan and monitor cash position of JTI TW and JTIM to optimize cash flow.
  • Coordinate and liaison with internal stakeholders and make sure the all the payments are made on time.
  • Raise ST loan request when foreseeing cash shortage.
  • Ensure treasury requests from JTI TW and JTI M are timely reviewed and approved by HQ based on the Global Operating Guidelines.
  • Support BoD meeting and dividend distribution and other cross-border transactions.
  • Renew AEO certificate and liaison with the bank to obtain the bank guarantee for the purpose of monthly consolidated payment of duties, taxes, and other charges.
  • Maintain good relationship with bank contacts and maximize cash utilization.


Tax Planning & Reporting

  • Support Tax & Treasury Manager on reporting requirements on a regular basis, including quarterly income tax pack, country-by-country reporting, tobacco tax fact book, entity compliance tax report and JCFC requirement.
  • Assist Tax & Treasury Manager in year-end closing with external auditors.


Global Tax Projects

  • Work with Tax & Treasury Manager, Global Tax team and external consultants in global tax projects.


Ad-hoc Activities

  • Assist in ad-hoc assigned projects.


Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required


  • University degree in Business, Economics or Accounting.
  • Professional qualification is a plus.

Work Experience

  • Experience in the tax or treasury department of multinational companies.
  • Experience in a Big 4 or recognizable accounting firm and ideally with tax audit or tax consulting experience.
  • Experience in handling cross-border transactions preferred.
  • Knowledge in Taiwan local tax and transfer pricing.

Language Skills

  • Fluency in both English and Chinese.

Functional Skills

  • Proficient in SAP, PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Positive attitude and willing to corporate with different functions and teams.
  • Detail-minded, independent, and well-organized with strong self-initiative.
