Position Purpose
To build up the talent pool of Corporate Affairs team to support the anticipation and assessment of change in the political, legislative, and regulatory environment which create commercial risk and competitive opportunity for the company in the market. This position will focus on implementing the aligned and approved strategies to key influencers which may maximize commercial advantage while minimize associated risk. The incumbent will work closely with internal stakeholders to achieve JTI objectives in a constructive manner and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment on condition to ensure that all Corporate Affairs activities are in line with JTI’s Code of Conduct and Operating Guidelines.
Main Areas of Responsibility
- Monitor political, legislative and regulatory developments to anticipate changes or trends in the Operating Environment that will create commercial risk and competitive advantage. Ensure that these developments are communicated immediately to the Market Corporate Affairs Lead, Corporate Affairs and Communications Director, and as required, to the General Manager and members of the market Excom.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the political and legislative process, including the mechanisms through which draft laws and other regulatory instruments are designed, introduced and debated. With the understanding, support strategy development to identify the specific timing and channels through which JTI can present its views and positions, or through which JTI can provide practical, meaningful solutions in a responsible, proactive manner.
- Maintain an up-to-date stakeholder map for the market(s), which identifies key political and regulatory stakeholders. Utilize the stakeholder map to monitor and assess the development of public and regulatory policy.
- Execute the company’s approved political and regulatory strategies and work closely with key external stakeholders to ensure that the company’s positions, views and potential solutions are communicated in a timely, effective and consistent manner. Ensure that overall Gov't relations strategies and programs are aligned with the company's business goals and performance objectives, and with JTI Code of Conduct and Operating Guidelines.
- Maintain collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders to provide CA support and deliver on business and CA&C objectives.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required
- University or above, preferable with Legal/Politics/PR background.
- 3 to 5 years working with multi-national companies or government related associations. Corporate Affairs or legislation experiences preferred.
- Excellent in Chinese and English.
- Proficient in MS office.
