WHAT THIS POSITION IS ABOUT - PURPOSE

 

  • To support Market Planning Manager and FP&A Director in consolidation and analysis of market performance for Corporate planning cycles through driving process of assumption building, budget inputs and scenario planning . It is also responsible for month end closing monitoring of actual in P&L, reporting to create performance awareness within the organization,  explanation of variances between actual and plan to management and corporate partners, aswell as business performance management throughout the year to ensure delivery of targets.

  • Market Planning Specialist will own the market P&L (excel based) model used to build scenarios for plans, adding automation where possible to maintain this critical model in the optimal way. The position will also be primarily responsible for data upload into systems and variance analysis for planning cycles.
    They will also own the actuals market P&L released each month end, aswell as variance analysis for review of Market Planning Manager and FP&A Director. The position is also responsible for budget management in above gross margin lines (Transportation, Warehousing and Write Offs). 

  • The role works closely with the Market Planning Manager, FP&A Director and Finance Director, aswell as connecting across all pillars of FP&A and maintaining close relationship with Strategic Insights team. It also involves exposure to senior management, region and corporate.
     

 

WHAT WILL YOU DO - RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Corporate planning submissions for P&L (OCC)

    •  

    • Own the full annual planning calendar and prepare instructions for each planning cycles providing guidelines to the rest of the team

    • Own the P&L model for scenario planning and continuously update with automation in order to run forecasts based on new assumptions promptly 

    • Liaise with business partners in Strategic Insights 

    • Prepare briefs for Region and Corporate to explain performance of new plan versus prior plan

    • Support in presentation of P&L to management 

    • Ensure accurate and timely upload into the Corporate systems
       

  • Budget management (for lines within gross margin)

    • Liaise with Supply Chain to ensure timely submission of Transportation and Warehousing budgets

    • Review and challenge budget submissions to ensure reasonability 

    • Assess reasons for variation in actual versus planned amounts and any required updates to new budgets

    • Complete analysis file for Inventory provisions and write offs, participate in discussions surrounding key risks in this area

  • Business partnering for insights and decision making

    • Maintain / update the pricing structure in order to explain to Corporate and / or utilize in making business decisions

    • Prepare financial analysis to support business cases for corporate approval that are related to above gross margin 

    • Produce analysis to aid with decision making seeking full automation e.g. P&L by product for analysis of limited edition packs, delisting consideration

    • Ensure cost consciousness in OCC spend to contribute to FCF delivery
       

  • Month End Closing Reporting and Monitoring

    • Monitor P&L during month end closing and monitor for expected entries

    • Prepare P&L on closing days for update to FP&A Director and Finance Director

    • Prepare Volume and Financials brief for submission to Corporate FP&A (explanation of actual versus plan)

    • Prepare regular reporting dashboard from Power BI to update relevant stakeholders on actual results

  • Other ad hoc

    • Perform other ad hoc analysis as requested by the Market Planning Manager or FP&A Director, and necessitated by business requirements

 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR - REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree in Business or equivalent, professional accounting qualification preferred.
  • Strong financial analytical, at least 3 years of planning and reporting experience within a multi-national FMCG  environment is required. It is recommended that the individual has strong computer skills, with an effective communication style and good presentation skills. Ability to manage deadlines under strong time pressure is important, as it ability to stay close contact with details with view big picture simultaneously
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong MS application skills especially in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Good knowledge on systems or strong interest / willingness to learn
  • Possess effective communication style, people person and good presentation and influencing skills.
  • Able to manage deadlines under tight time pressure is important. High drive for results
  • Ability to work with great level of details as well as overall view simultaneously.
  • Ability to connect the dots.  Good financial analysis and business acumen skills.
  • Has high learning agility and adaptability to evolving business environment.
