Consumer Insights Manager

What this role is about – Purpose 

The RMC Insights Manager plays a vital role in delivering accurate and timely retail audit tracking, enhancing consumer focus within the organization, assisting in strategic and future planning, and overseeing relationships with various teams.

The incumbent will drive and manage consumer research requirements, monitor consumer/trade dynamics of the categories, and successfully implement projects and initiatives of data collection to convert data into actionable insights that support RMC business strategies and decisions.

 

What you will do – Responsibilities 

Credible Market & Consumer Read

  • Ensure reliable and timely Retail Audit by continuously improving panel coverage and data integrity using available JTI data for sense-checking and understanding market trends.
  • Support the line manager in effectively communicating and presenting Ipsos data to colleagues within the organization.
  • Actively seek input from RSDs and CBUs regarding Retail Audit data trend validity and report actionability.
  • Provide necessary support for documentation and reporting for ASP, Commercial Review, and ad-hoc performance analysis.
  • Enhance data sources by researching and integrating external information on competitors, RMC consumer trends, and consolidating knowledge from different data sources.

 

Consumer Centricity

  • Elevate consumer-centricity in the organization by providing relevant and actionable insights on category trends and consumer behavior from consumer trackers.
  • Support the stabilization of new consumer trackers by validating data against market trends and calibrating historical data reporting.
  • Enhance the effectiveness of regular consumer tracking by integrating proven methods and insights gathered from brand and CBU teams.
  • Collaborate with the SI team to enhance total nicotine category reading, ensuring accurate market potential assessment.
  • Refresh, enhance, and maintain consumer segmentation with actionable insights for CBU, including their journey with RMC, usage/switching, and purchase behavior, identifying growth opportunities for JTI RMC products.
  • Champion the communication of consumer-centricity within the organization, from management to field force levels.

 

Strategic / Future Planning

  • Support overall portfolio and business planning by integrating insights from various sources (tracker, custom research, retail audit, etc.).
  • Provide relevant inputs related to overall business strategy during annual business reviews (CR, ASP, etc.), ensuring consumer-centricity in business decisions.
  • Focus on unlocking growth potential in specific price/flavor segments and regional priority areas with insights from studies and proactive communication with the field force.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the changing needs of those involved and integrate them into the research plan to fill in knowledge gaps and steer strategic decision-making.

 

Stakeholder and Project Management

  • Work cross-functionally to identify key business challenges and design necessary solutions, tools, and analyses to drive brand growth strategies through actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Independently manage or support all research requirements, from study design, project briefs, questionnaire design, ensuring data accuracy, data analysis, reporting, and management of external agencies.
  • Ensure that strategic insights projects are in line with business requirements, proactively completing milestones and addressing potential issues with all involved parties.
  • Provide feedback on projects to support the development of direct reports in analysis, report crafting with a business/commercial understanding, and problem-solving.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as budget monitoring, creating internal documents (contracts, project briefs, purchase requisitions, purchase order requests, closure reports), and other assigned tasks.

 

Who we are looking for – Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Marketing, Economics, Mathematics, Social Sciences or any other related field. An equivalent of the same in working experience is also acceptable for this position.
  • At least 8 years of work experience in market research and data analytics, currently in a manager position (or senior analyst position) from any market research agency or FMCG industry
  • Tobacco / retail industry experience is a plus

Functional Skills: 

  • Strong foundation on research methodologies and statistical analysis. Knowledge/experience with analyzing digital/social media platforms is a plus.
  • Self-reliant professional with the ability to strategically plan and implement tactics at all levels.
  • Detailed oriented, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and lead individuals. Collaborative and experienced in working with diverse teams and individuals from various backgrounds.
  • Strong adaptability to thrive in a rapidly changing and diverse work environment
  • Proficient in MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, & PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge in other data visualization/analytics tools is a plus
