What this position is about - Purpose:


The Channel Manager is accountable for the translation of Marketing & Sales strategies into channel (Key Accounts & Independent Trade Food, incl. Cash & Carry) and account plans with clear rationale as well as providing clear instructions to the Field Sales Planning Department for implementation.

Responsible to further develop professional relationships with the Channel key accounts in order to facilitate the negotiation and implementation of M&S programs at selected accounts. He/she will focus on all aspects of Channel profitability, Category Management, distribution, trade segmentation and will define KPI measurement and monitor program effectiveness.

Ensure all appropriate processes are in place to realize volume, SOM and OCC targets within the Channel.

What will you do - Responsibilities:


  • Translate portfolio, brand, and trade strategy into detailed channel strategy and plans, including trade segmentation, category management, and distribution in line with clear KPI's. Develop appropriate programs that best deliver on the brands' objectives, in close collaboration with all relevant Marketing & Sales functions.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with channel key accounts (on several levels) in order to facilitate the negotiation and implementation of JTI's strategies and programs. Responsible for effective negotiation and implementation of annual/long-term deals, plans and programs as defined in the channel & account plans.
  • Be responsible for data gathering and KPI monitoring (sales volumes, market share, business drivers), analysis and reporting, recommendation, and real-time implementation of corrective actions.
  • Monitor and control Channel budget. Track performance - DAP (direct account profitability) and budgets against agreed strategies and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Follow Channel insights & trends, execute field visits to monitor and control program execution and spot new trends and ideas in order to identify new business opportunities and innovations.


Who are we looking for - Requirements:


  • University Degree or equivalent (preferably Business, Economics, Marketing)
  • Proven 5+ years experience in Sales & Distribution, Channel/Account Management in FMCG as well as experience in relationship building and negotiating with key accounts
  • Excellent PC skills (MS Office)
  • Pragmatic & Analytical mindset
  • Structured & Logical reasoning
  • Solution driven thinker
  • Fluency in Dutch, French and English
