Category Manager for Services
What this position is about - Purpose:
The position exists to manage the procurement activities for the relevant category/sub-category(ies) within its Cluster following Global category strategies and identify alternatives if required. This role has the following main dimensions:
- Manage the initiatives within the Cluster for identified sub-categories;
- Participate in financial planning and deliver benefits/value within the perimeter of action;
- Drive cost optimization and continuous improvement initiatives;
- Apply Category Management principles and coordinate Cluster implementation plans as per Cluster directions;
- Ensure business connectivity and foster collaborative business partnerships with specific stakeholders;
- Manage SRM with suppliers in full coordination with Cluster and Category directions;
- Role model in compliance and ethics;
- Act as Procurement ambassadors in the home location.
What will you do - Responsibilities:
1. Category Management Strategy:
- The incumbent is responsible for procurement activities of the assigned business sub-category(ies) within its cluster. Rolls out appropriate strategies set forth by the Cluster Category Manager, provides sound direction for the assigned sub-category(ies), and ensures close collaboration with all associated stakeholders;
- Applies Category Management principles and supports developing and implementing the Local Procurement plan per Cluster directions;
- Works in close collaboration with the Cluster Category Manager to provide Cluster insights during Global Strategy definition and ensure that the supplier list is managed efficiently and effectively;
- Participates in financial planning and delivers benefits/value within their perimeter of action.
2. Supplier Management:
- Identifies and manages the local supplier pool. Negotiates strategic contracts and ensures optimum and sustainable supply conditions. Recommends timely strategic decisions where relevant to prevent procurement inefficiencies. Ensures supply security and effective supplier relationship management throughout the supply chain. Demonstrates ability to challenge the status quo. Proposes and runs projects that add value to Procurement and business functions;
- Manages SRM with key suppliers in full coordination with Global, Regional, and cluster directions. Supports the building of an innovative and sustainable strategy with local suppliers and promotes any idea that could represent a competitive advantage for JTI.
3. KPIs & Targets:
- Achieves set procurement targets and KPIs. Develops and recommends strategic sourcing plans/decisions for assigned sub-categories (ies);
- Leads and/or supports supplier bidding processes in close cooperation with respective business partners to ensure the best combination of quality, cost, and service conditions for goods and services are attained;
- Drives strategy implementation at the local level for assigned category(ies) within the cluster and monitors performance. Ensures corrective actions are taken when required;
- Ensure full compliance in utilizing digital technology for sourcing events and performance reporting;
- Drives ad-hoc cost optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
4. Business Partnership:
- Ensure business connectivity and foster collaborative business partnerships with specific stakeholders. It demonstrates the value of business partnerships by developing a customer-oriented approach. Aligns strategy with key business partners and ensures it meets business priorities;
- Establishes alignment and effective communication among procurement organizations, business partners, and suppliers;
- Takes preventive actions to avoid supply issues and resolves problems in due time;
- Assumes responsibilities for additional projects/tasks as the line manager assigns and reflects core behaviors in all aspects of work;
- Acts as GIP ambassador and drives the implementation of local /regional/ global projects and initiatives when needed, ensuring liaison of Local stakeholders with respective GIP category managers.
5. Market Intelligence:
- Shares category intelligence and identifies trends and opportunities;
- Applies best practices in procurement process management by utilizing the latest models and taking necessary actions for areas of improvement;
- Conducts supply risk assessments, builds contingency plans, and finds alternative ideas and solutions to secure the best conditions for JTI, including extensive market research and proactive sourcing of innovative suppliers.
Who are we looking for - Requirements:
- University degree in Business Administration / Finance / Supply Chain / Procurement;
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar environment in a multinational company;
- Portuguese (local language) and English (business language); other language is an asset;
- Strategic thinking;
- Effective negotiations and communication, interpersonal skills;
- Financial analysis;
- Leadership skills, management of internal and external parties;
- Business environment knowledge;
- Decision-making and project management;
- MS Office tools and SAP.
