Corporate Affairs & Communication Lead
What this position is about - Purpose:
A person in this position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing corporate affairs and communication strategies and programs. These include maintaining excellent government relations, developing fiscal, pricing, regulatory and supply chain strategies, safeguarding our corporate reputation, and driving the company’s internal and external communications.
You should have an agile, commercial mindset, the knowledge and experience to navigate the company through the particularities of doing business in the DRC, and provide timely insights and forward guidance to ensure continued commercial successes.
This position is part of the management team and reports to the General Manager.
What will you do - Responsibilities:
- Adapt and implement global CA&C strategies and corporate positions in the key areas of tobacco taxation, product regulation, anti-illicit trade, and supply chain costs
- Develop external relations strategies to strengthen and improve JTI's engagement with Government at all levels. Represent JTI in stakeholder forums e.g. manufacturer’s associations, chambers of commerce, and manage consultants, as necessary
- Anticipate market regulatory and fiscal change, prioritize and prepare government submissions, drive advocacy and follow up on outcomes. Ensure close coordination with Regional CA, and HQ CA&C functions as necessary
- Execute internal communication plans for market and factory management
- Represent the company towards the media, upholding a responsible external image and excellent reputation
- Implement our corporate Community Investment policy and develop employee engagement activities
- Coach team, implement agile ways of working, and manage their performance by setting clear objectives, strategies and measurable KPIs
- Provide specialist advice and political insights to the GM and Market Excom
Who are we looking for - Requirements:
- University Degree or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in a similar position
- Experience in highly regulated industries and excise taxation is an asset
- Excellent understanding of the regulatory and political environment
- The ability to develop and sustain professional relationships with external parties
- Business acumen and good communication skills
- Fluent English and French are a must
- Finally, a hands-on, networking specialist who will be seen by the Government as the face of JTI and the industry, and a partner in shaping tobacco policy
