Tax Manager - Malaysia & Thailand
What this role is about?
This position exists to handle JTI tax function and is accountable for the implementation of JTI tax strategies in Malaysia & Thailand including direct tax, Indirect tax and TP. They will support tax angles of business models set up, sourcing changes, new business flows and conversions, and will also assist the Cluster Tax Director in projects/initiatives relating to other markets in the Asia Pacific region on an as-needed basis.
What you will do?
- Lead implementation of tax strategy, policies and procedures (including JSOX controls), tax risk analysis. Mitigate tax risks and see opportunities to improve tax efficiency.
- Handle tax angles of business models set up, sourcing changes, new business flows and conversions. Communicate and coordinate with the partners e.g. Finance, Legal, CA&C.
- Supervise tax & customs audit and tax litigation with the support of partners. Connect with tax/customs authorities and tax advisor as the point of contact.
- Lead, guide and motivate the verticalized tax team of Malaysia and Thailand. Ensure development and growth of the team and provide proper training.
- When requested, assist Cluster Tax Director in tax projects relating to other cluster markets in Asia Pacific
Who we are looking for?

A degree in Tax, Finance, or Accounting is required. LLM or MBA is a plus.

At least 5 years of exposure to corporate tax, transfer pricing or indirect tax

A combination of working experience in the Big 4, as well as in-house is highly preferred.
