Regional Sales Director - North Asia Travel Retail


This position is responsible for managing the implementation of the Global Travel Retail M&S strategies and plans for the assigned region.The job holder provides proposals to JTI SA for implementation of distribution, sales and marketing activities of JTI SA as well as analytical activities and supports JTI SA in achieving its targets set forth in the Annual Strategic and Operating plans and in delivering the FCF, OCC, Volume and SOM growth.


The core business drivers are to ensure implementation of JTI SA product distribution strategies, support JTI SA in building JTI Brands' quality, image and growth. As the area is enormously widespread, culturally and ethnically diverse, the incumbent must effectively conduct the Company's business within the demands of this varied operation environment, demonstrating flexibility and sensitivity at all times.


The job holder will also be measured by the success in leading & coaching the team in achieving their business goals, personal development goals, creating outstanding trade engagement & partnership, establishing best in class consumers & customers platform, close collaboration with a global multi-functional & diverse team and sharing & learning success models across the team.

What will you do?


  • Responsible to provide support to JTI SA for the development and implementation of Annual Strategic and Operating plans for markets / countries, channels and accounts ensuring alignment with JTI's and Global Travel Retail Mission and Vision. Support JTI SA in achieving its objectives for Volume, SOM, OCC and FCF through route to market, marketing activation excellence, pricing & profit pool optimization.
  • Responsible to provide support to JTI SA for Annual Strategic and Operating plans, LE plans and generation of monthly and 18 months rolling forecast for sales in conjunction with planning. She/He supports JTI SA to ensure appropriate inventory availability / levels at JTI / distributors / customers.
  • Responsible for implementation of trade relationship management programs as per the instructions of JTI SA. Accountable to coordinate the activities with customers as directed by JTI SA, implement channels and markets / countries plan and ensure compliance.
  • Supporting JTI SA in developing and implementing new business expansion/ development opportunities in Duty Free/Travel Retail business.  Ensure strict adherence to JTI SA Global Travel Retail sales policies (LMD, GHE, Responsible Retailing etc.). Ensure JTI SA consumer brand off-take through quality implementation of brand advertising within legal and ethical boundaries often defined at market / country level.
  • Support JTI SA for effective implementation of JTI SA sales, distribution, merchandising through the line marketing strategies, objectives and programs. Accountable for execution and sales data gathering, monitoring KPI's, evaluating ROI and suggesting to JTI SA real time corrective actions to ensure implementation of programs is optimized. 
  • Recruit, motivate and guide the professional development of the team reporting directly and indirectly to the incumbent.

Who are we looking for?


  • High Standard of University degree.
  • MBA or equivalent educational background (desirable)
  • 10 years relevant experience in FMCG marketing and sales functions, both global and regional.
    • 3+ years’ experience in multimarket management.
    • 3+ years’ of proven performance and results in strategy planning, sales / marketing, C level commercial negotiations, international / local account management and business development in North Asia including China.
    • 3+ years’ of proven experience in leading and developing a performing & diverse team or talents.
    • Strong proven track record in China is a must in navigating the business & regulatory environment and building strong partnership with both state owned and private enterprises.
    • Proven experience in collaborating, influencing and managing both F2F & remotely to work with a diverse and global team across different business functions, geographies & levels.
  • Advanced MS Office knowledge & Digital competency required. SAP Knowledge (desirable)

  • Excellent Chinese & English communication skills, both verbal and written
