RRP Trademark Director
The RRP Trademark Director is required to reflect the emergence of heated tobacco as a priority category for JTI and this includes responsibility for building and protecting existing and new Reduced Risk Products (RRP) brands. The role will manage the JTI portfolio of RRP trademarks, aligning it with the Tobacco Business Strategy and Vision #1. With RRP envisaged to contribute 20% of Gross revenues by 2030 speed to market is of the essence and this position will be responsible for delivering RRP brands that support our Vision #1.
Position:
In this role, you will:
- report to the Head of the Trademark & Design Team and be responsible for managing the JTI portfolio of RRP trademarks, aligning it with the Tobacco Business Strategy and Vision #1. You will proactively engage with key internal stakeholders to deliver strategic brand filings and options to key business functions, including M&S, GRRP, and LRA to ensure speed to market, successful commercial product launches, and business continuity,
- manage the JTI RRP brand portfolio to ensure it delivers what is required for product launches, the Tobacco Business Strategy and Vision #1, conducting regular portfolio audits
and analysis to anticipate future business needs and validate the value within the portfolio, while managing costs, - identify offensive opportunities and defensive strategies, that deliver the best commercial outcomes for JTI regarding infringement of the company’s key RRP Trademark rights,
- ensure delivery against agreed budget, provide up to date budget information TM&D Director,
- lead or handle agreed additional activities related to the global trademark portfolio, budget or TM&D team management,
- manage other team members, supporting the role of RRP Trademark Director and other team members,
- deliver a pipeline of diverse IP talent by coaching, mentoring, and finding opportunities for our junior talent to develop to meet their full potential.
Requirements:
- Law degree - IP qualification or comparable based on work experience
- 10+ years experience in the IP field, preferably in-house
- English Language, Japanese a plus
- strategic thinking, people management, multinational business environment understanding, legal research, time management, and analytical skills.
