Corporate Affairs & Communications Director

 

What this position is about - Purpose:

 

In this role, you will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive Corporate Affairs and Communications (CA&C) strategy aligned with the commercial goals of the Irish market. This strategy encompasses critical areas including taxation, Reduced-Risk Products (RRP), government relations, anti-illicit trade, industry affairs, as well as internal and external communications, and community investment.

You will ensure strict adherence to the company's Code of Conduct while fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will also serve as a member of the Ireland Market Executive Committee. Additionally, you will work closely with the Vice President of CA&C for the Western Europe Region, as well as key functions at the corporate headquarters, to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment.

 

 

What will you do - Responsibilities:

 

  • Identify key issues and events in the country environment which could create commercial risk or competitive advantage for JTI
  • Prepare the CA&C annual plans and budget according to market developments and business targets
  • Develop and build a Government Relations program that effectively manages regulatory risks in key industry issues, with a strong focus on taxation, and also including RRP, anti-illicit trade and product restrictions
  • Direct the ongoing monitoring of political, legislative and regulatory developments, advise the company and make recommendations on all matters concerning planned and pending legislation, which could impact business strategies
  • Play a key role in developing a positive image amongst key stakeholders and the general public, ensuring JTI is considered the most reputable and respected tobacco company in Ireland
  • Assist the General Manager in matters dealing with the employers' associations and advise the General Manager on matters concerning requests for corporate support
  • Maintain media relations programs including  monitoring systems and ensure this information is ready to inform reactive and proactive media strategies
  • Direct an Internal Communications program that focuses on leadership, generating employee support and understanding of JTI objectives
  • Designs and oversees the effective implementation of the market Community Investment strategy and programs in compliance with JTI corporate policy and budget guidelines

 

 

Who are we looking for – Requirements:

 

  • University degree or MBA. Strong business orientation
  • A minimum of 5 years experience of leading a Corporate Affairs function within an international/global business, or a senior-level Corporate Affairs position, leading a team of CA professionals
  • Government experience in regulatory issues a plus
  • A team player with the ability to communicate openly, work effectively in a diverse team and build relationships with key stakeholders
  • Values high-quality standards, proactive in finding solutions and able to work effectively under pressure to handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent PC skills (MS Office)
  • Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent command in English
