What this role is about?

The Data Strategist Manager develops and defines the data strategy for compliance reporting, transitioning into measurable KPIs and metrics. Will also identify and map data objects to fulfill these reporting objectives and design data collection use cases and requirements.

In this role, the data strategist manager will be responsible for working with cross-departmental colleagues and multiple consultancy agencies to design a data approach. This aims to help drive JTI in accurate and progressive sustainability measurement and reporting with the ambition to attain compliance in reporting with international sustainability standards and provide visibility on sustainability efforts.

What will you do?

• Develop a comprehensive measurement strategy for sustainability initiatives, ensuring alignment with international sustainability standards
• Translate sustainability measurement definitions into measurable KPIs and metrics.
• Identify and map data objects required to meet sustainability reporting objectives
• Design the data process to enable channeling of data from multiple sources to enable reporting
• Design blueprints for connecting data sources and collecting data that may not be available currently
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external consultancies to design data approaches that drive accurate and progressive sustainability measurement and reporting
• Work closely with HQ Corporate Functions teams to leverage industry and market knowledge, as well as internal/external data, to accelerate sustainability transformation and execution
• Collaborate with IT and business colleagues to translate complex sustainability standards and definitions into actionable metrics
• Closely collaborate with Data Analysts and Data Scientists, overseeing to ensure the strategy is correctly executed and identify opportunities for data use cases that can further drive uplift in Sustainability processes, initiatives, and business value
• Assess priorities and define high-level effort estimates for data use cases to map out roadmap for releases in collaboration with data product owner
• Identifying the business requirements and opportunities within Sustainability function, processes, and business ideals
• Develop approach to breakdown data use cases into pre-requisites and path to execution, to then provide clarity to data scientists/ engineers on how to bring it to life

What are we looking for?

• University degree or equivalent, preferably in Data or Statistics
• + 5 years of professional experience focusing on business/ data strategy/ program management in the domain of analytics
• Familiar with IT lifecycle projects from building phase to deployment and monitoring stage
• Expert in presentation, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy-to-understand business terms to all levels of management including senior leaders
• Passionate about challenging data problems, finding insights in data, and applying your conclusions to drive clear and practical business impact
• Proven experience in defining data use cases, KPI frameworks and measurement approaches
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with key stakeholders across functions
• Experience with analytics storytelling, translating technical problems or solutions into business value
• Fluency in English
• Nice to have:
  • Previous experience with Sustainability projects
  • Knowledge of agile ways of working (DevOps, Scrums, retrospectives, backlogs)
  • Ability to anticipate and solve problems
  • Digital mindset, analytical, entrepreneurial, and curious
