Title:  Senior Data Engineer

SENIOR DATA ENGINEER

Purpose:

The Senior Data Engineer position exists to design, develop, and support data pipelines and services within the Markets & Regions Data Services team. The role focuses on implementing and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure data solutions, following guidance from Team Leads and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The candidate will contribute to delivering high-quality data to support business decision-making, working within the Agile methodology currently adopted across JTI. The role will support data initiatives tied to web and mobile applications across various business domains.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

Development and Maintenance of Data Pipelines

• Design, implement, and support end-to-end data pipelines and workflows
• Ensure data solutions are robust, scalable, secure, and cost-effective
• Perform unit testing, document technical components, and contribute to engineering documentation
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and address issues as needed

Issue Resolution and Operational Support

• Provide technical assistance for incident resolution during UAT and post-deployment phases
• Assist with data maintenance and user access support
• Work with internal stakeholders and external vendors where required
• Raise, track, and resolve incidents via IT Service Management tools

Platform Configuration and Development

• Adhere to existing development standards and incorporate new best practices as they evolve
• Assist in the configuration and deployment of data components aligned with JTI’s architectural guidelines and Microsoft Azure standards
• Promote changes across DEV/QA/PRD environments and support testing feedback loops
• Ensure all required documentation is delivered before Go-Live

Team Collaboration and Communication

• Report progress on assigned developments, tasks, and issues to relevant stakeholders
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and IT teams to ensure effective delivery
• Participate in team discussions around process improvements and service enhancements

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering, including data modeling and reporting
• Experience with Microsoft Azure tools (Data Factory, Data Lake, Databricks, Azure SQL, Synapse)
• Solid SQL knowledge and understanding of ETL processes
• Exposure to IT architecture and data flows between systems is a plus
• Fluent English (written and spoken)
