Department: Accounting and Finance (Financial Planning and Analysis)

The position is primarily responsible for supporting the PH Tax Director in Compliance, Advisory, Accounting, Reporting & Forecasting and Administration related to Tax functions for Factory legal entity in the Philippines. It should drive compliance culture for all taxes and other related regulatory (e.g., PEZA, LGU) requirements, provide tax advisory to business projects, and ensure overall tax health of all entities to manage or avoid tax risks. This position will also be alternate contact person of local tax authorities and any other relevant regulatory agencies relating to tax matters of the Factory entity. It is also expected to support the PH Tax Director in collaborating with Global Tax to develop tax strategies beneficial to the local entity and ensure strategies and practices and fulfill business requirements to ensure timeliness, accuracy and credibility of all tax reports (internal and external). It is also expected to create and maintain a well controlled tax control and environment that is audit ready status at all times.




  • Tax Compliance

    • Obtain full understanding of the National Internal Revenue Code, Local Government Code, PEZA Law and other related regulations. Obtain regular tax updates and assist in assessing and communicating the impact to entities in a timely manner.

    • Partner with various stakeholders to drive compliance of all tax and related regulatory requirements in a timely and accurate manner.

    • Support Tax Director to engage with key stakeholders to train, orient or educate relevant tax requirements and compliance

    • Partner with relevant stakeholders to provide guidance on tax impact and acceptability of business projects

    • Lead discussions with external consultants on relevant tax matters

    • Support Tax Director to develop high tax compliance culture and overall tax health to achieve audit ready status all the time including establishment of operations manuals, policies and procedures, and internal controls.

    • Review contracts and project proposals and advise on tax implications or solution to address tax issues.


  • Tax Accounting & Reporting (Internal and External)

    • Drive timely and accurate entity tax reporting compliance with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and other relevant agencies such as filing of returns on Monthly & Quarterly VAT, Quarterly and Annual Corporate Income Tax, Monthly & Annual Withholding tax on compensation, Monthly and Annual Expanded Withholding Tax, Quarterly Fringe Benefit Tax, Excise Tax, Royalty Tax, and Annual book registrations (CAS), Real Property Tax, Local Business and Transfer Taxes/permits/registrations/renewals, PEZA Certificate of Incentives, PEZA Monthly Performance & Annual TIMTA Reports, and other additional reporting that may be required.

    • Deliver quality, timely and accurate internal tax reporting requirements (eg Tax Pack, Tax accounts accounting, reconciliation and forecasts, JCFC and Entity Compliance Reporting)

    • Ensure all tax accounts are clean and reconciled at all times

    • Support Tax Director to initiate necessary financial analysis and simulations required for any tax risk or impact awareness

    • Support Tax Director to anticipate tax risks and appropriately manage and communicate financial impact


  • Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Support Tax Director to collaborate with Global Tax to ensure strategies acceptability in local tax environment

    • Leads and alternate contact person of local tax authorities and any other relevant regulatory agencies relating to operational tax matters of the Factory

    • Partners with business stakeholders on all projects or business development / changes to consider and manage tax impact

    • Manages relevant and efficient use of external consultants for relevant tax matters"                                    


  • System and Process Improvement:

    • Identify system or business process control gaps or inefficiencies and implement improvements via cross-functional collaboration to ensure tax compliance.

    • Lead Tax in the implementation of process changes where inefficient manual processes are identified. Work with IT to ensure necessary reports from local sales system are in place for all the areas under incumbent's responsibility.

    • Ensure correct tax codes for sales and purchases are maintained in the system to ensure correct tax reporting.


  • Tax Audits, Litigation, Refund and Health Checks

    • Support Tax Director in executing tax health check activities, JSOX and internal audit exercised by providing the necessary documentation and reconciliation in a timely and accurate manner

    • Monitor tax issues and handle assessments from local government units in collaboration with various functions

    • Lead in obtaining available tax incentives and refunds by filing the relevant application and providing the necessary documentation/reconciliation in the prescribed format and in a timely and accurate manner, engaging tax consultants if necessary.


  • Other

    • People management: Recruit, motivate and guide the professional development of the team reporting directly and indirectly to the incumbent to develop succession planning within the team.

    • Drive consistent credibility and integrity across levels of the organization. Follow-up with the team members to ensure that all policies and procedures are clearly understood and guide them on the importance of why certain controls are designed and need to be adhered to. Identify successors for direct reports and ensure backups are in place in terms of development and system access rights.

    • Knowledge & experience in business models (e.g., full-fledged distributor, limited-risk distributor, contract manufacturer, consignment or toll manufacturer, etc.), (2) setting transfer prices (intercompany service fees, royalties, interests, dividends, etc.),  and documenting/implementing these locally (and not just outsourcing transfer benchmarking report to Big 4 firms).

    • Manage various tasks and projects as they arise and upon the manager’s request.




  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or its equivalent with CPA certification.

  • At least 5-7 years experience Tax area preferably with Big 4 Firms or FMCG exposure and people and stakeholder management experience.

  • Fluent English and Tagalog are essential.

  • Strong MS application skills especially in MS Excel and exposure in SAP (Preferrable).

  • Sound business acumen, including understanding of tax and other related regulations and related tax accounting.

  • Good understanding of business model and its tax requirements.

  • Good communication and analytical skills.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.  Has the ability to connect the dots.

  • Ability to adapt to dynamic market environment, make difficult decisions, and has good problem solving skills

  • Able to manage deadlines under tight time pressure is important. 

  • Amenable to be assigned in Factory from time to time and as needed
