IWS Trainee

 

 

Position Summary:

  • The IWS Trainee supports the deployment and sustainability of the Integrated Work Systems (IWS) framework by enabling high‑quality execution of Leadership Pillar and PDCA routines at site and if requested department, and cell level.
  • The role ensures timely, accurate, and professional completion of PDCA information, effective action tracking and escalation, and consistent application of IWS standards. The IWS Trainee contributes to building a strong IWS culture by facilitating structured problem solving, supporting DDS and DMS routines, owning one Lean Element system (5S3R), and supporting IWS qualification and capability building across key systems.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

LDR & PDCA Governance Support

  • Support smooth execution of LDR PDCA routines by ensuring timely, accurate, and complete PDCA information, professional action creation, and effective follow‑up and escalation, enabling leadership teams to manage performance and losses through disciplined routines.

DDS & DMS Routine Enablement

  • Support DDS and DMS health by ensuring standards are followed, data is updated, actions are visible and owned, and routines are executed consistently across cell, department, and site levels.

Lean Element System Ownership – 5S3R

  • Own and drive the 5S3R system by ensuring standards are clearly defined, deployed, and sustained through functional and efficient PDCA cycles. Support regular audits, structured gap identification, and quality action creation, ensuring actions are practical, prioritized, owned, and followed up to closure. Enable escalation of systemic issues and ensure 5S3R contributes effectively to workplace organization, safety, operational discipline, and overall DDS and DMS performance.

Stakeholder Coordination & Escalation

  • Interact effectively with LDR Team to coordinate actions, clarify expectations, and escalate risks or delays to ensure PDCA effectiveness and delivery.

Capability Building & Qualification Support

  • Support the IWS Team in driving capability building and qualification by assisting with the preparation, coordination, and follow‑up of learning, coaching, and qualification activities across DDS and key IWS systems. Contribute to tracking qualification status, identifying capability gaps, and supporting PDCA actions under the guidance of Pillar Leads and the IWS Team. This role provides execution support and visibility to qualification processes, without owning targets, strategy, or final qualification accountability.

Other responsibilities:

  • Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the assigned by the Management. Proactive approach on completion of business tasks, business acumen and willingness to develop together with company. Compliance with EHS procedures, labour law, corporate guidance, internal regulations and work performance instructions.
  • Understand health and safety aspects of their work and learn about potential hazards, know and maintain required control measures in order to keep their workplace healthy and safe.
  • Develop their competency to do the work healthy and safely, participate in health and safety training and receive appropriate health and safety knowledge and required qualifications, observe and follow safety signs, posters, warning signals, and written directions and instructions.
  • Know Legal and JTI health and safety requirements associated with the work hazards and comply with all applicable health and safety rules and procedures.
  • Always demonstrate safe behavior, report incidents and near misses to their supervisor, report identified unsafe conditions and behaviors to their supervisor and eliminate them within their authority and ability to do so.

 

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field (or strong technical exposure with IWS/Lean interest).
  • 0–3 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, CI, or systems deployment role.
  • Exposure to Lean, IWS, or Continuous Improvement is an advantage.
  • English (working proficiency, written and verbal).
  • Local language proficiency is an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of PDCA, DDS, standard work, and problem solving.
  • Strong organization, follow‑up, and action‑tracking capability.
  • Ability to structure information clearly and professionally.
  • Good communication skills with confidence to interact across levels.
  • Digital literacy (reporting tools, presentations, trackers).
