WHAT THIS POSITION IS ABOUT - PURPOSE
This position will be responsible to monitor, assess and anticipate changes in the Tobacco related regulatory environment (including: Political and legislative), with a special focus on threats that create commercial risks and/or the opportunities that provide the company with a competative advantage. In addition, you shall support engagement with concerned stakeholders (i.e. governmental authorities, media and both internal and external parties etc.). In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible to coordinate, advocate and implement a Anti-Illicit Trade strategy in coordination with both internal and external Stakeholders locally, regionally and at a global level. Moreover, there will be a particular focus on the development and the implementation of internal/ external communication and corporate philanthropy strategies and programs.
WHAT WILL YOU DO - RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish a strong working relationship with key government stakeholders (including Myanmar Investment Commission, Ministry of investment and foreign economic relation, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Health). Identify and expand stakeholders and work with various government authorities to ensure the delivery of JTI legislative and Tax objectives.
- Lead and implement engagement activities to ensure company’s interests are protected. Plan, track, and log engagement activities and report back to Director and region/cluster head. Develop a relationship with media to ensure the JTI story is well told and circulated. Monitor media stories in print and online and ensure information is circulated regarding issues related to the industry in Myanmar.
- Communicate top-down messages from JTI’s leaders.
- Work with Corporate Affairs Director, Regional and HQ teams to ensure intelligence is shared with the Director, region and headquarters. Flag any issues related to regulation of the tobacco industry in Myanmar to the Director, region, and HQ.
- Maintain stakeholder engagement logs and provide two monthly reports to the Director to be used in the regional monthly reports. Support drafting letters, positions and briefing to be presented to government officials. Facilitate and manage relationship with the Tobacco industry and other key stakeholders
- Perform other CA activities, such as investigation of illicit trade, and other reporting requirements.

- Manage various tasks and projects as they arise and upon Director’s request.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR - REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Political Science, Communications or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a CA&C, preferably in multi-national FMCG organization or a large local firm working closely with government authorities and entities.
- Knowledge in the legislative process in Myanmar will be an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, influential, strong leadership, teamwork qualities and exposure to one or more of Asia's developed markets is highly desirable.
- Previous Tobacco industry experience will be an advantage.
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- The candidate should be articulate, cultured and well presented.
- Solid interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity is a critical requirement.
