EHS Specialist
 

Position purpose:


The EHS Specialist will ensure the effective running of the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) + Building and Utilities (BU) programs in Vårgårda factory. Person in this position will provide input into development of the EHS Programs, Annual EHS plans and enhance the EHS KPI performance.

 

What will you do – Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure process owners identify EHS-related risks at workplace, make risk assesment and support to develop actions which are in line with JTI EHS standard and legal requirements.
  • Coordinate the integration of EHS into general management activities, as example but not limited to; Work Environment Committee, Management of Change, Monthly Performance Review etc.  
  • Support with essential measures of work organization, with instructions, operating instructions and training.
  • Investigation after incidents (RI - Recordable Injuries, FAC - First Aid Case, NM´s - Near Misses and Environmental), cause analyses and their evaluation; preparation of documentation as well as fulfillment of reporting obligations and develoment of actions.
  • Continuous education and training of the necessary expertise in technical and organizational occupational health and safety through self-study, trainings.
  • Ownership in the implementation of the global GSC (Global Supply Chain) Safety Roadmap and its local implementation at the Vårgårda site, including Machine Safety and Behavior Observation System Implementation 
  • Ownership of local implementation of EHS programs initiated by global GSC EHS, JTI Corporate H&S or Corporate Sustainability
  • Assist in the coordination of the contractors on site in all aspects of safety, environmental and health protection, applicable regulations and procedures in coordination with the Project Manager/JTI Coordinator.
  • Regular inspection of contractors and continuous improvement in occupational health and safety.
  • Coordinate contractor assessment based on contractor self-assessment and regular on-site audits.
  • Conduct regular complianace checks vs JTI Corporate Standards and regulatory requirements (ENHESA) 
  • Conduct site inspections with a focus on JTI- standards.
  • Support internal audits related to ISO 45001, 14001 and 50001.
  • Advising departments on project planning and implementation in relation to EHS.
  • Safety acceptance of machines and equipment prior to commissioning.
  • Responsible for proper functioning, regular maintenance and proper condition of all Buildings and Utility systems including but not limited to: Electrical networks, HVAC, Compressed air, Heating systems, Steam pipelines, Fire protection and Security systems, Water supplies, Waste handling, etc. ASP - Annual Strategic Plan budgeting and monthly follow up on relation to B&U area.

 

Who are we looking for – Requirements:

 

  • University Degree or relevant qualification, e.g. master craftsman training in a technical profession or technician; completed qualification as an occupational safety specialist
  • At least 2 years of work experience in a similar position
  • English and Swedish Fluent, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO management systems and EHS Regulations; good knowledge of project management and with audits
  • Excellent Knowledge of MS Office
