Job Requirements



The successful candidate will work as a member of the Research & Development RRP team with the main purpose of supporting research activities including experimental design, data analysis, laboratory equipment selection and method development. The job holder will also be responsible for identifying RRP research requirements, planning & executing research projects, and communicating findings to key stakeholders.


Included in the key tasks are:


  •  Support all research activities including sample preparation & analysis, laboratory equipment selection, method development, etc.
  •  Identify research needs to maximise analytical capabilities and develop, validate and transfer analytical methodology
  •  Acquire sufficient product knowledge to enable a thorough understanding of required analytical methods to be implemented
  •  Interpret analytical data, recommend specifications and methods for process or product characterisation.
  •  Monitor and analyse competitor activity, products and literature
  •  Supervise analytical lab meeting all EHS requirements
  •  Seek to maximise JTI Intellectual Property creation


Skills and Knowledge required


  •  Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental Analysis degree
  •  Master degree and GLP training are desirable
  •  Minimum of 2 years' relevant practical experience within a laboratory/R&D environment
  •  Theoretical and practical knowledge in instrumental chemical analysis, as well as facility management experience.
  •  Demonstrated knowledge of method development and laboratory instrumentation
  •  Experience of data analysis and interpretation
  •  Highly organised with the ability to manage key projects efficiently and effectively
  •  A track record of innovation and Intellectual Property generation and experience with consumer electronic devices is desirable
  •  Excellent working knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  •  Exceptional communication skills; including the ability to effectively translate complex technical concepts to others
  •  Proven experience of working cross functionally
  •  An aptitude for problem solving
  •  Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritising and handling multiple tasks, whilst maintaining attention to detail
  •  Ability to demonstrate initiative and a positive ‘can do’ attitude
  •  Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  •  Flexible ‘can do’ attitude and ability to work successfully in a close team environment
