Legal Director Poland
Position:
We are looking for a seasoned legal leader to head the local Legal Function, partnering closely with business and global teams to enable compliant growth and manage risk across the Market.
Responsibilities:

- Act as a Trusted Business Partner
Provide proactive, solution-oriented legal advice that simplifies complex issues into clear, actionable strategies aligned with business objectives. Participate in key decision-making processes to enable sustainable growth and risk-balanced approach to challenges. - Drive Strategic Legal Leadership
Lead the Legal Function with a forward-looking approach, ensuring the team delivers high-impact support across all market operations, including GBS and GSC structures. Anticipate legal trends and translate them into business opportunities and risk mitigation strategies. - Enable Smart Risk-Taking
Assess legal risks pragmatically and advise on calculated and smart risk-taking to support business agility and competitiveness. Balance compliance with commercial objectives to unlock value while safeguarding the company’s reputation. - Develop and Empower the Legal Team
Delegate effectively while fostering a culture of accountability and growth. Mentor team members to enhance their capabilities, ensuring succession planning and continuous professional development. - Optimize External Counsel and Budget Management
Strategically manage external advisors to ensure quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Oversee the legal budget with a focus on resource optimization and value creation. - Champion Compliance and Governance
Ensure full adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. Implement robust frameworks that minimize risk and reinforce ethical business practices. - Integrate Legal into Strategic Planning
Provide legal insight during strategic planning and operational reviews. Influence business strategies by aligning legal considerations with corporate objectives and market dynamics. - Strengthen Cross-Functional Collaboration
Facilitate seamless coordination between the Market’s Legal Department and other JTI Group legal teams to ensure consistency, knowledge sharing, and best practices. - Proactive Stakeholder Communication
Keep the Regional AGC informed of significant legal developments, risks, and opportunities in a timely and transparent manner.
- Act as a Trusted Business Partner
Requirements:
- University degree in law and Polish qualified lawyer (LL.M. and/or MBA is a plus).
- Several years in a law firm focusing on commercial matters, followed by at least 10 years of relevant experience in FMCG – either in a market (or markets cluster) or HQ role – with regular exposure to RMC business issues and challenges.
- Fluent in English and Polish; other languages are an additional benefit.
- Broad technical legal skills paired with strong business acumen.
- Excellent organizational skills, commitment to deadlines, and ability to work effectively on parallel projects and initiatives.
- Proven track record of providing actionable legal solutions.
- Very good communication skills; sound legal judgment with a strong analytical mind.
- “Can‑do” mindset, assertiveness, and ability to deal with ambiguity and uncertainty.
