Software Release Manager (m/f/d)

 

Position Purpose: 

 

This position exists within the Digital Technology Department, inside the Global Development Center (GDC), within the DIGITAL and IT function, supporting the DES ecosystem.

The Software Release Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and governing software releases across core DES landscapes, ensuring that releases are predictable, transparent, compliant, and operationally safe.

The role operates across multiple delivery teams, platforms, and products, coordinating release activities from codefreeze through to production validation. The Release Manager does not own delivery or architecture decisions, but ensures that all required controls, approvals, and readiness criteria are met before a release proceeds.

This is a senior coordination and governance role, acting as the single orchestration point for DES software releases.

 

 

Position: 

 

Release Planning & Scheduling 

 

  • Plan and maintain the DES release calendar
  • Coordinate release scope and timelines across applications and teams
  • Ensure alignment between business expectations and technical readiness

Risk, Readiness & Go/NoGo Management 

 

  • Identify risks, dependencies, and constraints impacting releases
  • Ensure entry and exit criteria for release phases are clearly met
  • Facilitate release approval and go/nogo decisions

 

Communication & Visibility 

 

  • Ensure timely and accurate release communications
  • Provide transparency on release status, risks, and outcomes
  • Support stakeholder confidence through clear reporting

 

PostRelease Review & Continuous Improvement 

 

  • Coordinate postrelease validation and stabilization
  • Capture and analyze release issues and lessons learned
  • Drive continuous improvement of DES release practices

 

Requirements: 

 

  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent strong IT background
  • 6+ years of experience in Release Management, Change Management, or Delivery Coordination
  • Proven experience managing releases in complex, multiteam environments
  • Experience working with Agile, DevOps, and CI/CDbased delivery models
  • Experience operating in enterprise digital ecosystems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders
