Governance & Platform Architecture Manager (m/f/d)

Position purpose:

This position exists within the Digital Technology Department, inside the Global Development Center (GDC), within the DIGITAL and IT function, supporting the DES ecosystem.

The Application Architect is responsible for designing and guiding end‑to‑end application architectures across DES domains. The role ensures that applications are well‑structured, scalable, secure, performant, and aligned with agreed architectural standards and enterprise strategies. The architect works across frontend, backend, integration, and platform concerns, collaborating closely with specialized architects, delivery teams, and central functions (IAM, Security, Infrastructure). The role does not own enterprise strategies, but ensures their correct application within DES solutions.

This is a senior individual contributor role, combining solution design, architectural guidance, and hands‑on support for delivery teams.

Position:

Application Solution Design

• Design end‑to‑end application architectures within DES
• Ensure solutions align with established architecture standards
• Balance functional needs with non‑functional requirements
• Support delivery teams with clear, actionable architecture guidance

Architecture Standards Adoption (Full)

• Apply frontend, backend, integration, security, and platform standards
• Ensure correct adoption of IAM and Security strategies (without redefining them)
• Leverage shared patterns and reusable components
• Escalate deviations or risks to specialized architects when needed

Cross‑Team Collaboration

• Work closely with specialized architects and platform experts
• Collaborate with Product Managers and DevOps teams
• Support vendor and partner solution design reviews
• Act as a consistent architectural point of contact for delivery teams

Quality, Risk & Operational Readiness

• Identify architectural risks early in solution design
• Ensure operational considerations are included before delivery
• Support incident analysis from an architectural perspective
• Contribute to continuous improvement of architecture practices

Requirements:

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent strong IT background
• 6–9 years of experience in application development and architecture
• Experience designing end‑to‑end application solutions
• Exposure to frontend, backend, integration, and non‑functional concerns
• Experience working in enterprise‑scale digital ecosystems
• Comfortable collaborating with specialized architects and central teams
