To strengthen our Leaf & Blends team in the R&D area we are looking for a Leaf & Blends Manager (m/f/d) in permanent employment. 
 

Your job mission: 
Leaf & Blends holds responsibility for leaf grades and blends specifications. The role is to maintain and develop leaf grades and blends for our products in line with market and legislative requirements in accordance with R&D HQ guidelines and PD corresponded manuals. Leaf & Blends Manager is responsible for assigned leaf/blend maintenance and development in line with team and company objectives.

Your tasks:

• Maintain leaf grades/blends in one or more factories ensuring quality and cost targets as well as ac-curacy and adherence to requirements and timelines
• Provide support of a "troubleshooting" nature, dealing with grades and blends issues in factories under the direct responsibility
• Develop and blend tobacco materials ensuring a blend concept, quality and cost targets, company/legal requirements and in order to meet consumer expectations
• Manage multiple leaf & blends projects, providing timely updates on progress, meeting goals and deadlines
• Contribute to company planning for leaf usage, inventory positions and purchase requirements in accordance with strategy agreed within R&D and with key stakeholders
• Provide expertise in the qualification of all tobacco types/varieties and collaborate with applicable functions in order to maintain all aspects of the JT Group's quality levels for quality consistency
• Maintain and develop leaf category descriptions and specifications and initiate item creation/maintenance within SAP
• Ensure that routine jobs are followed to defined work process in accordance with ISO processes management document, develop and improve L&B processes and tools ensuring alignment within L&B and cross-functional alignment as applicable

 

Your profile:

  • Relevant educational background: University degree, preferably in agronomy, engineering or chemistry, or equivalent education
  • Practical experience: At least five years of business practice in the tobacco industry in an international environment and excellent knowledge of tobacco supply and leaf buying and selling business
  • Valuable knowledge: Understanding and demonstrated knowledge of grading, physical, chemical, sensory properties of main types of tobacco. Very good knowledge of four key elements of cigarette design with in-depth knowledge of the primary processing and sensory role of casing and flavor. Solid knowledge of the most common PC software applications incl. SAP and Process Management tools. Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Special strengths: Excellent analytical and strategic thinking as well as good communication and presentation skills
