Position Purpose

JTI USA is seeking a Regulatory Affairs Manager to join our team. This position is responsible for managing, protecting and enhancing the reputation of JTI USA and supporting and enabling the Company’s ability to attain its commercial objectives by advocating for the Company’s positions and engaging with policymakers, government agencies and third parties. This position will report to and work closely with the Corporate Affairs and Communications Director.


This position is based in our Teaneck, NJ office.



  • Act as the primary external spokesperson for the Company with Federal government officials
  • Educate and inform stakeholders’ views and understanding on key regulatory matters
  • Develop and implement multi-stakeholder strategies with political audiences
  • Contribute to the development of public affairs strategies and lead the engagement on these
  • Identify and anticipate issues, advising senior management of these, along with actionable information and recommended approaches to manage these
  • Build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and represent the Company as needed in industry bodies and associations
  • Review communication and marketing materials to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Provide updates as to developments or changes in the political and regulatory environment that may impact the Business
  • Manage existing external relationships and partnerships, including lobbying agencies and industry groups. Participate in industry and agency meetings and conferences to present JTI USA views and positions to ensure adequate company representation.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum BA with specialization in political science, law, economics, public relations, communication or equivalent work experience.
  • Management of public policy issues. 5+ years’ work experience in government relations and/or regulatory affairs required. Candidates with experience in the tobacco, pharma or other regulated industry preferred.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong English communication skills, both oral and written. Excellent presentation skills required
