Position Purpose

JTI Quality Assurance is responsible for ensuring product quality and integrity across JTI's portfolio throughout the full product life cycle, including compliance with product quality assurance programs along with the implementation & maintenance of systems required for product related regulatory compliance.
 
This position exists to ensure compliance to JTIs global Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures for applicable sites in the Americas region and will be reponsible to lead the planning, coordination and management of all activities being conducted under the JTI QMS framework.

The incumbant will support the implementation and ongoing review & improvement of site's local Quality Management systems ensuring compliance with both corporate and regulatory requirements including FDA requirements.  Day to day activities will include quality review and guidance to ensure compliance with quality procedures, training, documentation, investigation and corrective action follow up, change control activities, internal audit planning and execution, point of contact for external audit / inspections and providing regular updates to key stakeholders across the business.

The successful candidate will serve as the subject matter expert for Quality tasks and activities including requirements relating to Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP).

 

This position is located in our head office in Teaneck, NJ.

 

Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Lead all Quality related activities to ensure compliance with JTI Quality Management System and all relevant regulatory requirements applicable to JTI sites and / or 3rd party supply chian partners in the US / Americas Region.
  • Act as QA point of contact in case of external audits / inspections.  Facilitates regulatory visits in US sites and responsible to ensure sites are in an 'inspection ready state'.  Lead CAPA process related to external audits / inspection findings through to completion including timely provision of Quality related replies to regulatory authorites.
  • Provides support as requested regarding serious product quality incidents, taking the lead for local activities and follow up in the US / Americas Region including onsite investigations and / or additional follow up actions. Lead US site related CAPAs through to completion / closure following validation.  Escalates issues to Global QA in a timely manner and works collaboratively to address and remediate issues.
  • Support qualification process of e.g. new manufacturing partners, new key component suppliers, new warehouse facilities, etc. within US / Americas Region including conducting required onsite assessments.
  • Act as subject matter expert on US / Americas Region Quality requirements including FDA requirements, GMP requirments etc keeping both local managment and Global QA up to date with current / future requirments.

  • Act as QA point of contact for US market/authorities ad hoc & recurring reporting related to quality aspects and coordinate consolidation & provision of required documents within JTI Quality Assurance team.

  • Manage various tasks and projects as they arise and upon manager’s request.
     

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Scientific or technical bachelor degree (e.g. chemical/physical/electrical engineer, food technology, or quality management) or equivalent other business education. An advanced degree (eg. MBA, MS or PhD) is considered an advantage.
  • 5-8 years practical experience in a GMP regulated industry (ideally pharmaceuticals, dietary supplements or medical devices) focusing on quality management aspects and related quality standards & regulations; robust knowledge of quality management activities related to product development, manufacturing and market activities
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), other languages considered as an advantage.
  • Integrative personality with distinctive ability to communicate and to work in a team. Good leadership as well as people development, change management skills and advanced knowledge about audit procedures. Sovereignty when dealing with internal and external partners. Organizational skills, flexibility and creativity. Reliability and confidentiality. Comprehensive knowledge of quality management, data analysis techniques & statistics; profound project management skills; excellent PC skills (MS Office family); experience in SAP or comparable ERP systems is considered an advantage
