Position Purpose 

The position exists to lead Indirect procurement operations and manage the procurement activities for the services category within its cluster. This role has the following main dimensions:

  • Lead local indirect Procurement Services operations
  • Act as a set category liaison for Global Category Managers
  • Participate in financial planning and deliver benefits/value within their perimeter of action
  • Drive cost optimization and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Apply Category Management principles, and develop and coordinate Regional/Local implementation plans as per Global/Regional directions
  • Ensure business connectivity and foster collaborative business partnership with specific stakeholders
  • Manage SRM with key regional suppliers in full coordination with Global/Regional directions
  • Ensure Regional/Cluster alignment and compliance with strategies and a role model in compliance and ethics

Responsibilities and Requirements 

Procurement Strategy 

  • The incumbent is responsible for the Indirect Procurement activities (Opex and logistic) Services category in the US.
  • Define and implement Procurement strategies for the indirect services (Opex & logistic) categories, ensuring alignment with local and global company objectives. Document and communicate local/Cluster strategies.
  • Establish relationships with budget holders and ensure participation in cost and supply base improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrate value to business partners through collaboration on efficiency, knowledge of the supplier market, supplier risk, and compliance matters.
  • Consistently working with solid communication skills, organizational skills, and cost-savings initiatives
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct, and compliance matters.
  • Works in close collaboration with Procurement Cluster Manager to ensure global strategy considers local requirements and that suppliers' list is managed in the most efficient & effective manner for the cluster.
  • Participates in financial planning and delivers benefits/value within the perimeter of the action

People Management 

  • Drives motivation and individual development in the group to ensure optimum delivery from each team member.

Suppliers' Management 

  • Identifies and manages local suppliers' pool. 
  • Negotiates strategic contracts and ensures optimum and sustainable supply conditions.
  • Recommends timely strategic decisions where relevant to secure procurement efficiencies. 
  • Demonstrates ability to challenge status quo, proposes and runs projects that will add value to the Company, and Provides necessary support to Global or Regional procurement teams for implementation. 
  • Manages SRM with vital local suppliers in full coordination with Global/Regional directions.
  • Supports Global Category and Regional teams to build Innovation & Sustainability strategies with Global/Regional suppliers and promotes any ideas that could represent a competitive advantage for JTI.

KPIs & Targets 

  • Achieves set Procurement negotiation targets and KPIs. 
  • Plans and delivers Savings targets. Develops and recommends strategic sourcing plan/decisions. 
  • Leads and supports supplier bidding processes in close cooperation with respective business partners to ensure the best combination of quality, cost, and service parameters/conditions for products and services are attained. 
  • Drives strategy implementation at local and cluster levels for assigned categories and monitors performance. Ensures corrective actions are taken when required. 
  • Drives ad hoc cost optimization and continuous improvement initiatives

Business Partnership 

  • Ensure business connectivity and foster collaborative business partnerships with specific stakeholders. 
  • Focuses on demonstrating the value of Business Partnership by developing a customer-oriented approach. 
  • Aligns strategy with key business partners and ensures it meets Business priorities. 
  • Establishes alignment and effective communication among procurement organizations, business partners, and suppliers. 
  • Takes preventive actions to avoid supply issues and support problem solving where required. 

Market Intelligence 

  • Share's category intelligence identifies trends and opportunities and promotes innovative ideas. 
  • Applies best practices in procurement process management by utilizing the latest models and taking necessary actions for improvement areas. 
  • Conducts supply risk assessments, builds contingency plans, and finds alternative ideas and solutions to secure the company's best conditions, including extensive market research and proactive sourcing of innovative supplier

Education and Work Experience 

  • Minimum of 7 years in indirect Procurement (Opex & Logistics), preferably in a multinational company, with team-leading experience. Expertise in defining procurement strategy aligned with core business objectives.
  • Knowledgeable in the development and execution of purchasing policies and procedures to a high standard as well as a good knowledge of supplier relationship management (SRM) process.
  • Excellent understanding and experience in category management and strategic sourcing process
  • Comfortable leading and driving commercial negotiations
  • Strong and demonstrated communication skills 
  • Ability to work under limited supervision, exercise independent judgment, and consistently meet deadlines
  • Experience and knowledge of identified categories and industry best practices an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships and credibility with senior-level internal stakeholders and affiliates as well as suppliers
  • Establishes ownership and personal accountability for assigned categories and projects
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and demonstrated resiliency and adaptability in all aspects of work
