Position Purpose


The purpose of this position is to develop, implement, manage and evaluated the Company’s internal and external communication programs. The incumbent will facilitate internal communications that support business objectives, strengthen the corporate culture based on JTI Corporate values and Code of Conduct. In addition, he/she will develop and expand the internal communication infrastructure, oversee community investment activities, respond to inquiries originating from JTI.com and manage other internal and external communications as necessary. 


This position is located in our Teaneck, NJ Office.  


Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Develop, implement and manage effective internal communications / employee engagement programs and tools which will: i) generate understanding about the Company’s objectives, plans, etc. and ii) help employees nationwide understand their role in making them a reality and iii) disseminate key developments/decisions, etc. in a timely matter (i.e. potential litigation, significant management changes) using media appropriate for the situation, so all staff are informed as promptly as possible.
  • On ad-hoc basis and as agreed with Director, Corporate Affairs, provide internal communications guidance/support to other functions as needed (e.g. Finance, HR), as separate from regular corporate internal communication. This is to align all internal comms activities and ensure corporate messages/positions are consistently communicated and that all corporate initiatives have an internal communications element considered as part of project planning.
  • Maintain dialogue with HQ counterparts: Adapt and roll out (as appropriate) JTI HQ communications campaigns (e.g. Code of Conduct, transformation initiatives) to local market (and region, as agreed). Implement HQ-directive communication plans (JTI.com market site, Intranet page, Business TV, etc.). Keep HQ up-to-date on market activities, initiatives, programs, etc. 
  • Under direction of Director, Corporate Affairs, manage corporate social responsibility programs, act as primary contact with Corporate Philanthropy partners and manage budget allocations. Manage programs that develop employee engagement and maximize contributions to CP partners.
  • As appropriate, serve as an authorized media contact point for JTI USA and general corporate inquiries, and refer specific inquiries (e.g. litigation, HQ-related).

​​​​​​​Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree or equivalent relevant education
  • Relevant experience in internal communications programs, solid understanding of Social Responsibility Programs, good understanding of media relations is an asset.
  • Understands Microsoft Office Applications. Excellent project management skills; Strong communication & interpersonal skills; Good analytical & problem solving skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines. Ability to communicate well with peers and senior management.
