Data Platform Engineer Manager

The Data Platform Engineer Manager provides guidance on design and management of data for data applications, formulate best practices and development standards, organize processes for data management, governance and evolution. Build processes and tools to maintain high data availability, quality and maintainability. The incumbent will develop and maintain architectural roadmap for data products and data services plus ensuring alignment with the business and Enterprise Architecture strategies and standards. 

As a Data Platform Engineer Manager, you will:

• Determine technical solutions that align with business goals and corporate technology strategies, considering performance, reliability, scalability, usability, security, flexibility, and cost.
• Implement and automate data quality and reliability processes to reduce development times and provide optimal, cost-effective data assets for Data Analysts and Data Scientists.
• Define best practices for source code control, align with the DEVOPS platform, and ensure traceability of source code for maintenance and tracking of releases, especially for roll-backs.
• Manage the Power BI service, including architecture, operations, change requests, incident management, financials, and data protection.
• Participate in the onboarding of new projects with data engineers and define/propose PoCs to test new Azure or Power BI functionalities.
• Provide consultancy for new projects, analyze the impact of evolving business requirements, and work with various teams (Data & Analytics, IT-BTS, Functions, and external development teams) to ensure configurations meet business needs and performance standards.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in Data and Analytics with high exposure to IT architecture and solutioning for data flows among system and applications.
• 5+ years delivering solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform with a special emphasis on data solutions and services
• 5+ years delivering solutions on the Power BI platform with a special emphasis on architecture, security and maintenance.
• 5+ years of DEVOPS, CI/CD
• 5+ Python work experience

Technical skills:

• Azure Data Lakes, DataBricks and Data Factory experience is a must
• Understanding cloud services, infrastructure management, and cloud-native applications is key
• CI/CD experience and Microsoft DEVOPS solution is a strong advantage
• Biceps experience is nice to have
• Detailed understanding of Azure PaaS management and resource monitoring and security principles
• Excellent Database skills (Azure SQL and Synapse), scripting and data modeling
• Strong analytical skills and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent English communication skills
