  • The consumer-centric market model plays a critical role to support strategic business decisions for JTI Philippines. 

  • A solid market model should be able to predict key changes in the operating environment, and inform the business what's the optimal strategy to drive growth.

  • The incumbent of the position acts as the main point of contact from SIBI, responsible for the market model and various forecasting exercises for strategic planning and operational strategies.

  • Main responsibility includes running, maintaining, and enhancing the Market Model should be based on available data sets (both internal and external sources structured and unstructured), straightforward methodology/assumptions, and alignment between different functions. The role includes proactive collaboration within Marketing & Sales, as well as the finance department. 

  • Market models and forecasts should be comprehensive and transparent to stakeholders with the right level of details and rationale so that they can provide actionable insight.



  • Analysis and modeling of the Philippines cigarette market and Company's performance
    • Enhance and maintain the market model to deliver business planning scenarios (Volume, Share of Market, Profit) based on different scenario assumptions including Price, Tax, Market Size, M&S investment, and P&L input from finance.
      • Structure the information received, and analyze (trade marketing activities, launches of new brands, etc.), based on internal data and research data (retail audit, consumer tracker, data from special studies and open sources, etc.). 
      • Conduct a quantitative assessment of the impact of key factors/indicators of the cigarette market, current performance and learnings from previous consumer/trade programs. 
      • Populate market scenarios at the total market/company/brand / SKU level with a clear summary of key assumptions, methodology of the model, and differences between scenarios.
      • Continuously assess the accuracy of the forecasting & reflect the learning to the model for improvement
      • Develop, manage and improve regular reports on the results of market modeling
  • Active contribution to all volume planning processes in Company.
    • Support the M&S (Marketing & Sales) on strategic planning with relevant forecasts and scenarios based on aligned assumptions and provide clear and explainable results
    • Provide relevant modeling of new launches, including the impact on other portfolios (cannibalization impact). All variables such as distribution and switching patterns should be aligned with proper stakeholders.
    • Perform monthly performance forecast to support sales target setting process with proper alignment of drivers and algorithms
    • Actively lead the S&OP discussions from a demand point of view, to support production planning and inventory management
  • ​​​​​​​Collaboration and presentation of the market model & forecast
    • Present the market modeling result and forecast to the management team & stakeholders with the right level of details based on the audience 
    • Establish a clear and structured process for input from multiple functions, alignment, and result presentation
    • Continuously seek updated information, sources, and solutions from other departments/teams, as well as other JTI markets for benchmarking.
    • Regularly (upon agreed schedule) and ad-hoc basis, prepare and present market situation analysis to support strategic decisions
    • Timely response to inquiries and requests from the management based on aligned prioritization
    • Actively share knowledge within the organization when feasible
  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Basic duties as an employee/contractor
    • Compliance with corporate policy including NDA (non-disclosure agreement)

  • Bachelor's degree in an analytical field (Mathematical, Statistics, Economy) or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of proven experience in Business Intelligence, Strategic Insights, or Business Planning departments (preferably in the FMCG industry). 

  • Strong work experience in data modeling and data-driven forecasting, and an advanced user of MS office. 

  • Data execution tools, Data access (SQL), and programming languages (Python, R, C++).

  • Knowledge/experience in the Azure cloud is a plus. 

  • Experience and knowledge in the tobacco industry are a plus.

  • Tobacco / retail industry experience is a plus

  • Fluent in both written & verbal English 

  • Functional Skills

    • Data Modelling and Forecasting skills: ability to create a mathematical algorithm to translate assumptions into quantitative impact to the business.

    • Analytical skills with business acumen: ability to turn the big volume of data into articulated and easy-to-understand insights and business recommendations by finding correlations and converting them to modeling algorithms 

    • Structured mindset: design conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts, ensuring transparency and easy explainable of forecasting Models and algorithms.

    • Creative  thinking: Collect and analyze data from JTI databases to drive optimization and improvement of Models, searching for new forecast methodologies and improvements

    • Data Extraction & presentation: Ability to analyze and extract ad-hoc data requirements and present statistical information to the stakeholders.

  • Business Skills & Experiences

    • Experience in analysis of Marketing related activities (FMCG distribution, consumer/customer programs)

    • Cross-functional collaboration & stakeholder management skills: Ability to build trust and collaboration across layers & functions 

    • Time and resource management skills: Ability to provide required time for given tasks, and to request and manage external resources when needed
