WHAT THIS POSITION IS ABOUT - PURPOSE

  • The incumbent is the health and safety lead, representing Corporate Health & Safety within the JTIP Management Team, acting as health and safety advisor to JTIP. He/she is also a member of the Regional/APAC Corporate Health & Safety Team. The position provides health and safety strategy, oversight, and support to all JTI business entities, operations and projects within JTIP. These strategies, include and not limited to build strong foundation of Health and Safety Culture within the organization, oversight and support address all facets of the health and safety program including development, review and maintenance with a risk-based and cost-effective approach which must add value to the market.
  • Primary responsibilities, include, but are not limited to, setup, sustain and improve the local health & safety management system and implement programs as per Corporate and Regional H&S guidance, risk assessments, crisis management, due diligence, incidents investigation, training and audits, while maintaining and developing effective working relationships with internal stakeholders within all regional markets.
  • The incumbent may be called upon to provide health and safety support regionally, as directed by the Regional Corporate Health

 

WHAT WILL YOU DO - RESPONSIBILITIES

  • People Health & Safety

    • Lead and manage the HS team and influence and engage management and other functions to drive a strong HS culture and achieve the company's HS commitments and to ensure that the Local H&S Programs are implemented and continuously improved, protecting employees H&S and minimizing the business impact.

    • Ensure compliance with local H&S related laws and legislation and keep up-to-date with any changes, inform management on the impact of these changes to their roles and responsibilities, advise and represent regional management in all matters concerning compliance with H&S regulations and ensure that all regulatory reporting requirements are adhered to and appropriate actions to correct deficiencies are implemented.

    • Ensure timely and quality on accident reporting, investigation, analysis, and corrective action in the reporting platform, and inform Market Management of the causes of accidents/incidents in the market, and any other leading indicators required to build awareness and develop preventive plans to avoid re-occurrence and injury to people and losses to the company.

    • The incumbent assists on the annual Regional CS H&S Audit Plan and conducts health & safety audits and assessments and follow up recommendations of business operations.

    • In coordination with RHSM/APAC CHSL and other functions as appropriate (e.g., Compliance, Corporate Audit, Legal, People & Culture, H&S), the incumbent will conduct objective investigations of safety-related allegations/incidents as required.

    • The incumbent will give advice and support line managers in the identification of H&S training needs in their teams, coordinate with RHSL those that need corporate/academy support, and develop training plans to improve competencies.

  • ​​​​​​​Risk and Crisis Management

    • The incumbent leads market efforts in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining health & safety processes, practices, and policies to reduce risk, respond to incidents, and limit exposure and liability through the development and maintenance of a Market H&S Risk Register. The overriding aim of all strategies and recommendations is to bring value from health & safety for the business and to enable the market to meet its operational objectives.

    • The incumbent is a core member of the Market Crisis Management Team. As such, provides operational security support during crisis, investigative support as requested, and crisis/incident management training to sites and market teams.

    • The incumbent identifies trends and best practices in the international business environment and make recommendations to the RHSM/APAC CHSL on development of regional strategies to reduce JTI safety exposure.

  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Networking

    • ​​​​​​​Internally - maintain and develop effective working relationships with the JTIP GM and members of the local EXCOM. Develops networks throughout all functions and levels to promote and drive global health and safety initiatives. Briefs the Market GM on the status of health and safety issues and emerging risks.

    • Externally - develops relationships with law enforcement, business partners, and national counterparts to include in-country security agencies, intelligence and private sector counterparts. Engages, by membership, in public and private H&S associations.

  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Financial Management

    • The incumbent is expected to exercise effective and efficient financial management of the market health and safety program which requires planning and presentation of an annual budget (LE, ASP and SPC), updates on budget within regular intervals (outlooks) and providing RHSM/APAC CHSL and Finance with appropriate reports on YTD actuals and variances.

  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Talent Management

    • The incumbent will manage and lead direct reports ensuring their continued development within their role and function adding greater value to the business, forming part of an ongoing succession plan and supporting career aspirations.

    • The incumbent will play an active role in his/ her continued development within the CS Health & Safety Talent Development Program.

 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR - REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor or MSc university degree and National H&S Management Certificate.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in health and safety in large FMCG or heavy industry international company.
  • Familiarity with local regulations
  • English and local language fluency is essential.
  • Must be competent in personal computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Team, SharePoint and PowerPoint.
