WHAT THIS POSITION IS ABOUT - PURPOSE:

  • The Consumer and Trade Insights Specialist will support the insights team on research requirements and data analysis needs, which will aid in converting data into actionable insights required in the formulation of business strategies and decisions. The role is integral in the development of a consumer-centric understanding of the tobacco trade landscape. He/she must connect different sources of information (internal or external), identify and address information need gaps in an efficient and timely manner, in compliance with the company's quality standards and policy.

 

WHAT WILL YOU DO - RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Report and Analysis

    • Establish a solid understanding of a consumer-centric and business-centric view of the landscape and dynamics of traditional and modern trade and other emerging channels i.e. digital

    • Profile the trade based on different types of channels (wholesaler or retailer, modern vs general trade, others) and types of consumers/ shoppers who visit the outlet, while identifying opportunities for growth for tobacco products (ready-made cigarettes, reduced-risk products, and other tobacco products)

    • Support a deeper understanding of the consumers of different tobacco products and shopper behavior, in general

    • Assist the team in building custom reports and dashboards

    • Expand data sources through searching and incorporating external sources on FMCG consumer trends, retail trade insight, and other macro indicators to strengthen analysis

    • Performs ad hoc analyses, whenever needed, while ensuring timely and accurate reporting to all stakeholders

  •  

    Project Management

    • Identifies key business challenges, determines and designs independently the necessary solutions, tools, and analyses to help drive brand growth strategies and plans through actionable insights and recommendation

    • Manages independently and/or supports all research requirements from designing the study, creating project brief, questionnaire design, ensuring data accuracy, data analysis up to reporting and management of the external agency

    • Ensure strategic insights projects are in line with business requirements, proactively ensure milestone completions, and raising to the stakeholder's potential issues that might be encountered upon implementation

    Strategic Business Support

    • Partner and cross-collaborate with different departments, not limited to Marketing & Sales, for any data-driven custom analysis and research requirements

    • Support special projects not limited to the following: 

    • Driving actionability of consumer segmentation at a territory level

    • Assisting the team in delivering a quality trade census

  • Administrative Support

    • Performs administrative tasks such as budget monitoring, creation of internal documents such as contracts, project briefs, purchase requisition, purchase order requests, closure reports, and other tasks that may be assigned from time to time

 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR - REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Marketing, Economics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or any other related field. An equivalent of the same in working experience is also acceptable for this position.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in market research and data analytics from any market research agency or FMCG industry
    Tobacco / retail industry experience is a plus

  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)

  • Project Management and People management experience is a plus

  • Functional Skills
    • A strong foundation in research methodologies and statistical analysis
    • Strategic thinker who is able to develop and execute plans and tactics independently at all levels
    • Detail-oriented, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
    • Proven people management skills, team player. Cross-cultural experience
    • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, consensus-driven, diverse environment
    • Proficient in MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, & Powerpoint 
    • Knowledge of other data visualization tools is a plus
