Customs Operation Associate 

You will be fully responsible for bonded warehouse and import procedures of tobacco shipments. You will ensure effective coordination between  JTI internal departments, Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), Agricultural Quarantine Office,  customs broker and authorized customs broker. You will also take full ownership of coordination for inland shipments from port to bonded warehouse. 

This position is based in Izmir and reports to the Customs Manager.

Position: 

Customs Operation Associate will be responsible for the following process: 

• Bonded Customs Clearance Process: Prepare and submit bonded entry instructions to the customs agency and leaf warehouse. Set delivery priorities in line with Planning requirements and ensure timely bonded declarations and factory deliveries within legal limits. Coordinate with RMS/Planning and Warehouse to optimize storage and demurrage costs. Ensure full compliance with bonded legislation, liaise with authorized customs officers, and maintain accurate bonded warehouse records and monthly stock counts.

• Import Customs Clearance Process: Prepare import instructions and manage clearance priorities according to Planning needs. Act as the key coordinator between the leaf warehouse, Planning, customs agency, and authorized customs broker. Ensure all transactions comply with company policies and regulatory requirements, maintaining complete audit-ready documentation. Monitor changes in customs, bonded, agricultural quarantine, MoA, and IPR regulations.

• Making Application and Getting Permission: Ensure accuracy of documentation required by the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA). Submit and reconcile TAGVIS and TUPSE import/export and transport applications. Oversee agricultural quarantine permits and conformity certificates. Review and sign legally required documents as a certified tobacco expert, including tobacco usage rate tables (domestic and export), sample tobacco shipment notifications, and incentive applications.

Requirements: 

• University degree in Tobacco Technology Engineering
• Minumum 3 years of professional experience
• Procifiency in English (written and spoken)
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office Applications
