Regional Trade Marketing Representative, North East

As a Regional Trade Marketing Representative for the North East, you will play a pivotal role in executing targeted sales and merchandising strategies across retail accounts to drive significant sales growth. This role requires a blend of analytical skills, commercial acumen, and interpersonal abilities to tailor impactful trade marketing programs, ensuring alignment with both company objectives and customer needs.

You will be responsible for managing key accounts within the region, utilising your expertise and judgement to design and implement customised sales initiatives. By closely collaborating with retailers, you will help optimise product visibility and category management to maximise sales potential. This role also involves handling special projects that support regional business priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a strategic visit schedule, prioritising customer accounts based on company frameworks and sales data insights.
  • Collaborate with retail partners to decide and execute sales and marketing activities tailored to each outlet’s profile and potential.
  • Plan appointment timings thoughtfully to maximise engagement and sales impact during each visit.
  • Analyse in-store sales data and inventory trends to inform call plans and trade activities.
  • Leverage local market knowledge and customer feedback to contribute to the regional Cycle Plan and overall business strategy.
  • Conduct regular monitoring of competitor activities and retail trends within your territory, providing actionable insights to the wider marketing and sales teams.
  • Present comprehensive JTI sales data and campaign results to retail partners, fostering transparency and trust.
  • Educate retailers and store teams on best practices for managing the tobacco category to optimise sales and compliance.
  • Negotiate trade marketing programs and product placement agreements, focusing on win-win outcomes that benefit both JTI and retail partners.
  • Ensure strict adherence to compliance standards and contractual obligations in merchandising and promotional execution.
  • Merchandise products effectively, ensuring adequate stock levels and educating store personnel on the importance of product availability and presentation.
  • Utilise advanced sales techniques to identify and overcome objections, ensuring strong commitment from customers to the agreed sales plans.
  • Regularly track and record performance against objectives using company CRM or similar systems, identifying areas for continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile & Requirements:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma is required, with further education or professional qualifications in marketing, business, or related fields considered advantageous.
  • At least three years of demonstrable experience in FMCG sales, preferably with exposure to tobacco category or related sectors.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for presentations.
  • Excellent commercial awareness, with the ability to interpret sales data and link insights directly to business objectives.
  • Exceptional communication skills enabling you to interact clearly and effectively with diverse stakeholders across retail environments.
  • Proven selling skills, applying a 'Double Win' negotiation approach to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Good knowledge of Trade Marketing Execution (TME) systems, including reporting tools and data management.
  • Analytical mindset capable of interpreting complex data to support decision making and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and organised, with strong planning skills and the ability to prioritise workload efficiently.
