Tax Governance Manager

The Tax Governance Manager is responsible for leading tax governance, audit, and controversy management activities across the Philippine Market and Global Business Services (GBS). The role serves as the key owner of tax authority audits, internal audit engagements, governance frameworks, and remediation programs, ensuring strong tax controls, compliance, and audit readiness across the organization.
 
Working closely with Finance, Operations, GBS, and Global Tax stakeholders, the successful candidate will drive continuous improvement initiatives, strengthen governance standards, and foster a culture of tax compliance and accountability throughout the business.
 

What You Will Do

Audit & Controversy Management

  • Lead end-to-end management of tax authority audits, investigations, and internal audit engagements across the Philippine Market and GBS.
  • Coordinate audit strategies, stakeholder responses, issue tracking, and escalation processes.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality audit submissions while minimizing business disruption.

Governance, Controls & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and continuously enhance tax governance frameworks, SOPs, control checklists, approval matrices, and record-retention standards.
  • Ensure alignment with Global Tax policies and embed audit learnings into sustainable business processes.
  • Drive stronger control environments and reduce compliance risks across tax-related activities.

Remediation & Continuous Improvement

  • Translate audit findings into actionable remediation plans with clear owners, timelines, and control enhancements.
  • Monitor closure of audit actions and validate effectiveness of implemented controls.
  • Identify recurring root causes and implement preventive measures in partnership with key business functions.

Audit Readiness & Digitalization

  • Establish and maintain standardized audit defense files and documentation practices.
  • Improve audit readiness through better data management, repeatable reporting processes, and automation opportunities.
  • Support the organization's readiness for evolving tax authority digitalization requirements.

Capability Building & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with stakeholders to strengthen tax awareness and compliance culture across the organization.
  • Support delivery of training programs, playbooks, and governance initiatives that enhance tax capability and reduce repeat findings.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on governance, audit, and compliance-related matters.

Who We Are Looking For

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • CPA qualification preferred/required, subject to hiring requirements.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate tax, tax governance, internal controls, tax controversy, or tax consultancy.
  • Strong experience managing BIR and LGU audits, internal audits, and audit defense activities.
  • Sound knowledge of the Philippine tax environment and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Experience in governance frameworks, SOP development, controls design, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Digital mindset with an interest in automation, reporting, and process efficiency improvements.
