SDC BI Development Manager

As part of the SDC BI Development team within the Global Development Center, you will help define and implement the corporate SAP analytics strategy. You will plan, design, build, and support global planning and reporting solutions across SAP platforms.

Reporting to the SDC BI Development Manager, you will be responsible for delivering SAP BI and analytics applications (including SAP BW, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP BPC, and Datasphere) that enable better business decision-making.

You will understand business processes and initiatives across assigned functions, while playing an active role in solution architecture, configuration, and ongoing support. You will collaborate with BTS teams and business users to gather requirements and deliver effective solutions, and provide technical support for issue resolution, including UAT and post-go-live activities, working closely with end users and project and support teams.

 

As an SDC BI Development Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Technical and Process Expertise - You will support business requirements gathering and analysis, translating functional requirements and capabilities into effective technical solution designs. You will propose optimal solutions to address user needs or resolve issues, while proactively identifying opportunities to improve configuration, reduce customization, and drive automation. You will take ownership of development best practices and actively share them across the team, and you will also support BTS in end-user training through a train-the-trainer approach. 
  • System Configuration and Developments – You will support technical design, development, unit testing, and production deployment, ensuring solutions are aligned with agreed business process designs, functional requirements, best practices, and JTI architecture standards. You will transport changes across environments, support user testing, and fine-tune solutions based on feedback. You will ensure consistency and standardization across applications, and ensure all required system documentation is completed and delivered prior to go-live, while also contributing to knowledge base creation.
  • Issue Resolution and Operational Support – You will provide timely technical support for issue resolution, including UAT and post go-live support, as well as data maintenance and user access administration, working closely with end users, support teams, and vendors as needed. You will collaborate closely with BTS and external vendors, while ensuring assigned tasks are updated on time and that responses and solutions are delivered within team SLAs and release schedules. You will also ensure the high quality of BI solutions, making sure they are aligned with IT standards and agreed-upon business process designs.
  • Business Partnership Tasks – You will communicate progress on projects related to developments within your assigned area, managing processes across requests, approvals, specifications, development, documentation, and unit testing. You will develop strong relationships with customers to understand their needs and priorities, delivering timely, high-quality solutions by researching and aligning with the business processes you support.
  • Innovation – You will stay abreast of trends and new capabilities of the BI platform, while proactively analyzing technology trends and JTI business demands to identify upcoming opportunities.

Requirements: 

  • Experience & Background – You have 3–5+ years of IT experience with broad exposure across multiple areas, including at least 3 years of hands-on experience in SAP BI development and user requirements analysis.
  • SAP & BI Technical Expertise – You have strong experience with SAP BI tools such as BW, SAC, and Analysis for Office, including SAC Planning, with additional experience in BPC and FOX scripting considered a strong advantage.
  • Development & Data Skills – You bring experience in ABAP development and solid knowledge of HANA SQL scripting, with exposure to embedded analytics (CDS) as a plus.
  • Tools, Design & Methodologies – You have a good understanding of software design principles, front-end/reporting design concepts, and experience working with Agile methodologies, along with proficiency in office productivity tools such as Excel and Project.
  • Business & Functional Understanding – You are able to analyze user requirements effectively and ideally have experience in relevant functional areas to better align technical solutions with business needs.
  • Professional Skills & Mindset – You are fluent in English and demonstrate strong accountability, proactiveness, attention to detail, and a results-oriented mindset, with the ability to learn quickly, deliver on time, and follow up promptly on risks and issues.
