Data Engineer Associate

The Data Engineer Associate supports Markets & Regions Data Services by developing, deploying, and maintaining data pipelines and analytics solutions. Working under the guidance of senior data engineers and team leads, the role ensures reliable, scalable, and secure data delivery that meets business needs. The position leverages software engineering principles and Azure-based technologies to enable data-driven decision-making while operating in line with JTI standards, architecture, and Agile ways of working.

As a Data Engineer Associate in D&IT, you will:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Databricks, Azure SQL, SSIS, and Synapse, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective.
• Support end-to-end solution delivery, including technical design, development, unit and integration testing, deployment, rollouts, and post-go-live support.
• Analyze, organize, and integrate raw data from multiple sources to build data systems and pipelines that meet defined business requirements and objectives.
• Perform daily monitoring of data pipelines, troubleshoot issues, raise and investigate incidents, and provide timely operational and UAT support to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
• Ensure adherence to JTI architecture standards, Azure best practices, and data solution standards while maintaining required technical and system documentation.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, BTS, Enterprise Architecture, global IT teams, and vendors to support project delivery, continuous improvement, and service enhancements.
• Contribute to Agile delivery practices, documentation, knowledge base creation, and continuous process and platform improvements.
• Support people management and perform additional tasks or projects assigned by the supervisor, as applicable.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Data, Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related 4-year course.
• At least 2 years of related IT work experience.
• At least 1 year of experience in Data & Analytics, including data modeling and reporting.
• At least 1 year of exposure to IT architecture and data flow solutioning across systems and applications.
• Hands-on experience delivering data solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform, including Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Databricks, Azure SQL, SSIS, and Synapse.
• Experience with ETL tools and data modeling; Power BI and Azure Data Lake experience is a strong advantage.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and testing skills for validating data solutions.
• Open to a night shift schedule.
• Very good written and spoken English communication skills.
• Fast learner with the ability to adapt to new technologies and work effectively in a global, collaborative environment.
