BUILDING & UTILITIES ELECTRICIAN

 

Objective

Under the supervision of the Building & Utility Engineer, the role is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems supporting tobacco processing facilities, utilities, and building infrastructure, while ensuring reliable power supply, equipment availability, safety compliance, and uninterrupted operations.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, LV distribution boards, MCCs, control panels, motors, generators, ATS, UPS, and lighting systems.
  • Monitor and maintain tobacco curing barns, control panels, sensors, and associated electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults and restore equipment to operation promptly.
  • Monitor generator performance, fuel level, oil, radiator, battery condition, and electrical output.
  • Operate and maintain water pumps, fuel pumps, HVAC systems, and utility equipment.
  • Support grading machines, conveyor belts, press machines, and misting systems by resolving electrical issues.
  • Conduct shift handovers and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and company EHS standards.
  • Report major failures and recommend corrective actions to supervisors.
  • Carry out additional tasks and projects assigned by management.

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electricity, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in industrial electrical maintenance and utility systems.
  • Experience working with electrical systems supporting industrial operations, utilities, and building infrastructure.
  • Ability to work shifts and respond to emergency breakdowns.

Skills & Expertise

  • Knowledge of motors, generators, MCCs, VFDs, control circuits, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and fault-diagnosis skills.
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance expertise for industrial equipment and utility systems.
  • Knowledge of generator operation and utility systems maintenance.
  • Understanding of electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and EHS standards.
  • Good technical reporting, teamwork, and communication skills.
