Legal Manager (Fixed Term Contract- 12 Months)
The position exists to support the Legal Director UK in advising the UK market and its companies on legal matters affecting the business. The aim is to achieve corporate and commercial objectives while ensuring compliance with the law and appropriate monitoring and management of legal risk.
The job holder will advise on a range of commercial matters and play a full part in the UK legal team, including advising on product liability and consumer claims, regulatory and competition law matters. The job holder will concentrate on complex and high-value legal matters, managing and taking responsibility for such projects. On all matters, the job holder will serve as the direct point of contact for colleagues in the UK business and at the regional level. The role provides support to the UK market.
Position:

You will advise on high-profile commercial law matters, including providing support to various functions and sales channels, and instructing external counsel and advisors where necessary.

You will take the lead and responsibility for projects requiring experienced and high-level legal support as they arise. These projects will involve providing specialist legal advice to all levels of management across the Market and Region, with an emphasis on support for Market Excom and senior management.

You will draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts (e.g., trading, purchasing, supply, distribution agreements) and provide direct specialist legal advice to senior management on these matters.

You will advise on product regulation, including reviewing developments and legislation on relevant legal and regulatory matters, informing the business, and ensuring the company and its products comply with the regulatory regime. You will manage consumer claims.

You will collaborate as part of the legal team to develop and provide training programs, precedents, guidance notes, and updates for commercial management and other employees. You will also deliver training to the UK market and region (where appropriate) in respect of commercial law, tobacco advertising issues, or other areas of specialism as required.

You will assist with general matters, including advising on packaging, marketing, market research activities, and other areas such as competition law, IT, property, advertising, labeling, consumer protection, and health and safety.

You will build and maintain strong working relationships within the Western Europe Region and HQ, ensuring a full understanding of business needs and strategic plans to provide proactive and valued advice.
Requirements:

UK-practicing solicitor with at least 6 years post-qualification experience is a must-have.

A university degree with second-class honors (upper division) or above is a must-have.

First-class experience from a top city or regional firm, ideally with expertise in advising on regulatory matters and consumer claims.

Work experience in an FMCG company (a plus).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas clearly and collaborate effectively across teams and with stakeholders.

Proven ability to make informed, timely decisions to drive results and adapt to dynamic challenges.

Proficiency in analyzing and solving complex issues by developing innovative solutions and implementing strategies.

Strong interpersonal skills, fostering teamwork and mutual respect while building professional connections with colleagues and stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain trusting relationships to enhance collaboration and achieve organizational goals.

Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks, manage workloads, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

In return, we offer a competitive salary of £100,000 max per annum dependent on experience.
