People & Culture Associate 

Position Overview

The People & Culture (P&C) Associate plays a key role in supporting HR programs, employee lifecycle activities, systems administration, communications, and organizational initiatives that enable efficient business operations. This position offers broad exposure across Talent Management, Learning & Development, Employee Relations, HR Systems, Employer Branding, Rewards, and Administrative Operations, while partnering with stakeholders across Manufacturing, Leaf, and Market functions.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Management & Learning Development

  • Support Talent Calibration and Succession Planning processes as needed.
  • Coordinate training programs, webinars, and development initiatives, including logistics and communications.
  • Track Performance Appraisal and Development Planning cycles.
  • Support Learning & Development activities, including:
    • Training needs analysis
    • L&D plan tracking and reporting
    • Global program nominations and submissions
    • Platform administration (e.g., Brainshark)
    • Employee and manager guidance on development opportunities

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Manage end-to-end onboarding and offboarding activities, including:
    • New hire documentation, background checks, and employment verification
    • E-Verify administration and tracking of work authorization/visa renewals
    • Employee records and compliance documentation
    • Coordination with Global Business Support (GBS), managers, and new hires
  • Enhance and maintain onboarding programs, materials, and presentations.
  • Coordinate welcome kits, orientation activities, and new hire events.
  • Ensure timely employee joiner/leaver communications and internal announcements through platforms such as Workvivo.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Global Mobility processes, supporting relocation, immigration, work visas, green cards, and employee transitions to the U.S. Head Office.

Employer Branding & Talent Acquisition

  • Support employer branding initiatives that strengthen JTI’s reputation as an employer of choice.
  • Participate in career fairs, recruitment events, internship programs, and other talent attraction activities.
  • Help execute programs that enhance external visibility and employer brand equity.

HR Systems, Data & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Manage employee data within HR and Payroll systems and perform regular reconciliations.
  • Conduct data quality audits, corrections, and system maintenance activities.
  • Support employee requests through JTI platforms, including People Central and MyJTI.
  • Generate and analyze monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc HR reports.
  • Administer employee service award processes and recognition communications.
  • Perform periodic audits to ensure data accuracy, process compliance, and continuous improvement.

HR Projects, Communications & Business Support

  • Support the implementation of global and local HR initiatives, including Employee Engagement Surveys and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) programs.
  • Assist with reviewing, drafting, and updating HR policies, procedures, and handbooks.
  • Partner with P&C leadership to prepare presentations, reports, and leadership meeting materials.
  • Develop employee communications in collaboration with the Communications team.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees on HR-related inquiries.
  • Support Rewards projects and day-to-day compensation administration as needed.

Administration, Vendor Management & Health & Safety

  • Manage HR vendor administration, including purchase requisitions and payment processing.
  • Partner with the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team to support compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through active participation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate office and factory support services, including:
    • Cleaning services
    • Cafeteria administration
    • Uniform management

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • 2–3 years of general HR experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of HR systems and platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Fluent English language skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

Preferred

  • Project management experience.
  • Experience working in culturally diverse and international environments.
