Join us in PUTNEY as CATEGORY DEVELOPMENT MANAGER 

(12-month fixed-term contract) 

 

What you'll do 

 

As a Category Development Manager, you will drive best‑in‑class range and space planning strategies across Conventional Tobacco and Reduced Risk Products. You will deliver and optimise planograms for Managed Accounts while providing recommendations for Independent and Symbol retailers, ensuring alignment with business strategy, listings and category dynamics. Working closely with Sales and Marketing teams. You will develop a deep understanding of category dynamics and deliver category stories which uncover opportunities to deliver on brand and retailer objectives, supporting key range reviews and execution. You will also oversee space‑planning systems, monitor competitor activity, and lead the Category team with an agile approach to maximise impact and efficiency.

 

The team 

 

 You will report to the Trade Marketing Lead Manager and you will lead a team of three, two of which are two Associates who will support you with daily work. 

 

The skills you'll need 

 

You will bring a degree (or A‑levels or equivalent) and at least three years’ experience in Category Management or a similar role, with Sales or Marketing exposure preferred. You will have a strong track record of cross‑functional collaboration, team leadership and budget management, supported by solid project management capability. Strong data proficiency is essential, with experience using tools such as EPOS (Circana, Nielsen), Retailer and Kantar platforms considered an advantage. You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, strong problem‑solving ability, sound commercial acumen, and the confidence to prioritise effectively based on business needs and value delivery.

 

How we'll reward you 

 

In return, we offer a competitive salary of  £55,000-£60,000 per annum dependent on experience and a car allowance of £7,611 per annum. We’ll also provide you with a comprehensive benefits package that’s flexible to suit you and your lifestyle including a discretionary 20% bonus scheme and money to spend on a range of flexible benefits from share schemes to discounted gym memberships.
