Trade Activation Manager

 

 

About the role: 

 

The Trade Activation Manager is responsible for translating brand and commercial strategies into effective trade activation plans at point of sale. The role ensures strong alignment between Brands, Sales, Field Force, regional teams and external agencies, while driving impactful internal and trade communication across CTP and RRP categories.

This position plays a key role in strengthening trade engagement, supporting new launches, managing tactical marketing initiatives and ensuring that commercial priorities are clearly communicated and effectively executed in the market.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

Internal Commercial Communication

  • Manage internal branded communication for CTP and RRP, ensuring key commercial and brand information is clearly shared with internal stakeholders
  • Coordinate communication across Trade, Sales Teams and Brand Teams to ensure consistency, clarity and timely information flow
  • Build and nurture a network of internal brand ambassadors to strengthen engagement and understanding of brand priorities
  • Ensure internal stakeholders are fully informed about brand activities, launches, commercial initiatives and regulatory updates

 

Trade Communication

 

  • Manage trade communication for CTP and RRP, covering retail and key account channels
  • Ensure trade partners receive clear and relevant information about brands, new launches, limited editions, commercial priorities and key regulatory changes
  • Develop and coordinate communication materials related to trade promotions and activation initiatives
  • Organize and support trade business sessions for CTP and HTS, ensuring strong engagement and understanding among trade partners

 

Tactical Marketing Activities

 

  • Lead tactical commercial projects and communication initiatives that leverage local market opportunities
  • Support the achievement of commercial targets across CTP and RRP categories
  • Identify and activate local/regional opportunities in coordination with Sales, Brand Teams and Field Force
  • Ensure tactical activities are aligned with brand strategy, market & regional priorities and execution standards

 

Trade Engagement Programs and Incentives

 

  • Develop and manage trade engagement programs for CTP and RRP
  • Oversee the management and development of digital platform supporting trade engagement
  • Coordinate content development for trade engagement initiatives
  • Integrate trade incentives into engagement programs to drive participation, advocacy and commercial impact
  • Monitor program performance and propose improvements to increase effectiveness and trade partner engagement

 

Point-of-Sale Activation and Regional Coordination

 

  • Coordinate with regional teams to ensure the correct implementation of trade activation at point of sale
  • Translate brand strategies into clear and actionable trade activation plans
  • Ensure alignment between Brand Teams, Field Force, Sales Teams, regional teams and agencies
  • Maintain a consistent communication flow across all stakeholders involved in trade activation
  • Monitor field execution and ensure that daily incidences are resolved in a timely manner to minimize operational impact
  • Support agencies and Field Force teams with the necessary guidance, materials and updates to ensure high-quality execution

 

Position Requirements: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in Marketing and/or Sales, preferably within the FMCG industry.
  • Experience in the tobacco industry in Portugal and/or in managing digital and cross-functional projects is a strong advantage.
  • Native-level Portuguese and fluent English, both written and spoken; Spanish is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong commercial mindset, analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
