Tax Associate
As the Tax Associate in the area of Accounting & Finance, you will:
- Prepare and file Quarterly and Annual Commercial Tax Returns, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely submission to the tax authorities. Maintain and monitor commercial tax transactions to support accurate tax filings and refund claims, particularly for export-related activities. Issue and collect Form-31 from vendors and suppliers for commercial tax reclaim purposes; reconcile transactions and maintain proper documentation for audit readiness.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of Quarterly Specific Goods Tax and Annual Corporate Income Tax returns, including attending tax offices to deliver supporting documentation and address queries.
- Estimate and process monthly Advance Tax Payments, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines.
- Collaborate with GSC and CA&C teams to prepare and submit Tax Stamp Applications and payments.
- Maintain monthly and quarterly tax submissions and ensure timely reporting to tax authorities,
- Utilize SAP for tax-related data entry, reconciliation, and reporting; ensure data integrity and alignment with financial records.
- Support the Tax Manager in liaising with tax consultants and local tax authorities, including preparing documentation for audits, tax refunds, and assessments.
- Assist in internal and external audits by preparing tax schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documents.
- Stay updated on changes in Myanmar tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company’s tax obligations.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance tax compliance efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform other ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in tax, accounting, or finance, preferably in a multinational or large local organization.
- Solid understanding of Myanmar tax laws, including Commercial Tax, Withholding Tax, Specific Goods Tax, and Corporate Income Tax.
- Experience with SAP tax modules and reporting tools is a strong advantage.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel and other financial software applications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in both English and Myanmar languages is preferred.
