Corporate Affairs & Communications Manager

 

As the CA&C Manager in the area of Corporate Affairs & Communications, you will: 

  • Anticipate changes in the company's Operating Environment which create commercial risk and competitive opportunity. 
  • Ensure anticipated changes, risks and opportunities are communicated in a timely fashion to the General Manager and members of the market Excom.
  • Develop, in partnership with the market Excom and functional counterparts, strategies and programs through which the Operating Environment will be shaped to minimize commercial risk and secure competitive advantage in a responsible, proactive manner.
  • Develop Coporate Philanthropy strategies and programs through which JTI will contribute to the community in a meaningful, sustainable manner.
  • Engage with functional counterparts in the market and in JTI HQ to develop or adapt JTI views and positions regarding public issues which have significant impact on the company's Operating Environment.
  • Develop and direct the implementation of political, regulatory adn media engagement strategies to enusre that the company's positions adn views are presented in a timely, effective and consistent manner.    
  • Establish clear performance criteria and objectives for all Public Relations and Government Relations consultants engaged by the company in the market.
  • Ensure that PR and GR strategues are aligned with the company's business goals and performance objectives.
  • Ensure that all programs are assessed against agreed performance criteria and objectives and are in line with the JTI Code of Conduct.

Handle the Below Key Projects:

  • Illicit Strategy & Planning
  • Excise tax strategy development
  • Stakeholder engagements (NGO, Chamber, Myanmar Tobacco Association)
  • Regulatory Engagement (MIC & Customs)

 

Requirements:

  • University graduate or above, preferably with a major in Legal, Politics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in Corporate Affairs within a market; legal training is an added advantage
  • Multi‑year experience in a similar role within a large international company or a reputable local firm is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated commercial experience with measurable achievements that positively impacted the business
  • Proven ability to anticipate changes in the operating environment and implement strategies and programs to shape those changes
  • Experience in commercial affairs, corporate affairs, or both
  • Strong proficiency in Government Relations and Media Relations, with solid communication skills considered a valuable asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong influence and leadership capabilities, teamwork orientation, and exposure to one or more developed markets in Asia is highly desirable
  • Previous experience in the tobacco industry is an advantage, along with an understanding of regulatory, trade, and tax environments and broader industry dynamics
