WHAT THIS POSITION IS ABOUT - PURPOSE

 

 

The objective of this position is to advise the local management teams on IT strategy and the development of IT in the Factory Cluster, aligning with their respective strategic business plans and recommending, implementing and supporting relevant technologies.

The incumbent will address IT issues with business leads, provide consultancy on solutions, ensure delivery of effective IT services such as desktop support, technical infrastructure, innovative tools and applications standardization, and assure the integrity of Factory Cluster applications/systems/interfaces.

 

As an integral part of the JTI IT organization, this position is to improve business performance by driving business efficiency and effectiveness through Information Technology and process expertise .  

 

Ultimately this is a strategic leadership role that is key for the successful operation of the respective Factory Cluster, while ensuring adherence to JTI IT technology standards, with the direction and support of the Regional Factory IT Director, the incumbent also leads and manages his/her team IT staff across their factory or cluster factories and their areas of responsibilities, and in the execution of identified projects, whilst ensuring that day-to-day operations continue to run effectively and efficiently.

 

The role may include one large factory, with many users and sites, or several factories grouped together in a cluster, to gain synergies, and physically located across multiple locations/countries.

 

 

WHAT WILL YOU DO - RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Business Relationsip Management 

    • The Factory Cluster IT Director develops the IT strategy to support the Factory Cluster's mission and core objectives by working with the Senior Business Management teams in the location(s) for which they are responsible to fully understand their business plans.

    • Assess and advise leaders in the Factory Cluster on technologies and/or IT services available to support the delivery of their business plans.

    • Responsible to lead and oversee all IT related matters and provide effective communication to all parties involved.

 

  • Business Transformation Management

    • Accountable for overseeing all IT related projects in the Factory Cluster, directly for pure technology projects (upgrades), co-lead business projects with high technology dependency (e.g. ERP implementations) and quality control of global IT projects deployed to the factory (e.g. SAP, MOM, Network upgrades). 

    • Identify systems to support Business Processes and improve current solutions, ensuring they deliver to requirements and are cost effective in alignment with IT strategy and the Application Portfolio. Govern these projects in compliance with

    • Operating Guidelines.  In a Cluster environment, develop synergies where possible with delivery of solutions.

    • Accountable to ensure respective local Management Team Members are aware and take ownership where required of technology related business transformation through project management best practice (steering committees, etc.).

 

  • IT Vision & Strategy:

    • Support the development of JTI's IT Vision and Strategy by providing input on Factory Cluster requirements and priorities. 

    • Accountable for IT strategic planning in their Factory Cluster and its alignment with company strategy, in order to fulfill company objectives and maximize the IT contribution to the respective JTI entity/entities or to JTI as a whole.

    • Having full ownership for creation and execution of IT Strategy at Factory Cluster level, drive innovation in order to enable attainment of strategic objectives for future growth and profitability in the factory in alignment with the JTI and IT Vision 2030.

 

  • IT Governance:

    • Full ownership of respective IT budgets in Factory Cluster. Responsible for planning of the AP/SP and LE processes and delivering financial commitments with clarity on how budget is used to run existing services, the cost of transformation/change and efficiency gained by the changes.  Optimize, controls and reduce costs when possible to improve Factory Cluster efficiency and profitability.

    • He/she is responsible for planning, resource allocation and priority setting in line with Business requirements and IT Strategies across the Factory Cluster. 

    • Govern system change control through compliance to IT policies, procedures & standards.  

    • Drive cost avoidance through the alignment as much as possible to corporate application standards (e.g. SAP for ERP, MOM for factory logistics, SAP HR for personnel master data), also seeking to re-use existing business application solutions across the group and leverage the IT Application Portfolio.

    • Decrease technology risk and reduce cost through following IT technology standards and guidelines.

 

 

  • Security, Business Continuity & Compliance 

    • The Factory Cluster IT Director is the main single point of contact for all IT related matters and has full accountability for IT DRP as part of Business Continuity Plan, Application Governance, J-Sox and Audit review. 

    • The Factory Cluster IT Director ensures adequate security and authorization concerning the use of hardware, software and data for optimal use and to safe guard continuity, confidentiality and integrity.  Ensures compliance of Factory

    • Cluster security implementations in line with Global Standards and the appropriate Legal context.  

    • Ensures business continuity by supervising the IT Disaster Recovery procedures and documentation, which are reviewed and tested on a regular basis; maintains information regarding application assets & change management to ensure that current and new business risks are mitigated and that the recovery of that applications can occur within the time scales advised and agreed with appropriate business functions. 

    • Fully supports the Factory Cluster and global Legal teams with data investigations and chain of evidence process, using the minimum of resources, ensuring that confidentiality of the investigation is not broken.

 

  • People Leadership

    • Lead IT teams in the Factory Cluster IT team in fully embracing the Company's vision, mission and values.  

    • Ensure implementation of the appropriate organisation design of IT personnel across the Factory Cluster to ensure clarity and accountability for attaining business goals and targets, aligning to the IT guidelines on structure and capacity.

    • Leverage resources across sites where relevant, possible and efficient, to ensure overall cost effectiveness and to deliver development and career paths for team members. Direct participation in the recruitment, coaching and performance review process of the Factory Cluster IT members.  Lead succession and personal development of IT personnel in the Factory Cluster.

    • Align fully with People & Culture best practices on reward and recognition structures, encouraging best behaviours in support of achieving business results.

    • Be directly responsible for the hiring and termination of IT contractors.

 

  • Service Delivery Management

    • The Factory Cluster IT Director ensures the company's business community is provided with appropriate support and training/development in business systems, software and hardware in order to make effective and efficient usage of systems and resources and enable users to achieve business goals. These solutions may be internally or externally provided.   

    • The Factory Cluster IT Director is fully accountable for ensuring that all shared IT applications / IT solutions are stable, reliable and compliant to the legislation (e.g. payroll, data sources and data integrity, etc).  

    • In addition to direct governance over Factory Cluster IT services and resources, the role carries the unique responsibility to fully understand and influence all IT services required to support the Factory Cluster's business (e.g. ERP, Networks, Security, Service Desk, other Factory Operations). This IT service delivery leadership is critical for ensuring the factory business is fully supported.  In a Cluster, leverage common providers where possible to maximize value of resources/providers across locations.

    • Ensure strategic alignment with Internal (e.g. BTS, GTC, GDC, Security) and External IT Service Providers. Accountable for making decisions regarding the selection of external IT Service providers selection in accordance with Operations Guidelines and company's Policies and Procedures. Establish and maintain strong and efficient connections with providers. Responsible for timely fulfillment of commitments by suppliers, according to contracts.

 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR - REQUIREMENTS:

  • University Degree in Computer or Technical Science or strong IT background (additional business education is a plus).

  • 8+ years’ experience in the IT discipline with 5+ years of those years in IT management (including people management) 

  • Preferred background employment experience would be in multinational companies.

  • Good working knowledge of business and related processes in FMCG industry.

  • Fluent oral and written English

    • Excellent knowledge of IT technology, infrastructure and business applications which is standard within JTI, such as Microsoft solutions, local and wide area network, telecommunication, ERP & other Factory business process analysis

    • Strong understanding and awareness of JTI policies and processes and ability to leverage them in a timely and simple way.
