Shipping Manager - Montreal (12 - 18 month contract)
Purpose of the role
The incumbent oversees the shipping and warehousing of finished goods to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations. They coordinate trailer and container arrivals and departures, ensure inventory accuracy, regulatory compliance (CRA), and proper inventory movements in SAP.
The role also includes responsibility for certain plant logistics functions and tasks. Working closely with the Logistics, Production, and Finance teams, the incumbent optimizes flows and implements continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Supervise both the team and department that handle shipping and warehousing finished goods;
- Plans, organizes, controls and coordinates operations related to the arrival and departure of trailers/containers;
- Liaises with CRA agents during inspections and addresses questions when finished goods must be destroyed or exported;
- Ensure that inventories of finished goods are accurate;
- Takes part in finished goods quality control and validates daily production output;
- Together with the Logistics team, carry out SAP maintenance that impacts the movement of virtual inventory between the plant and the warehouses;
- Analyze and implement corrective measures to improve the shipping process;
- Coordinate/optimize production plans with stakeholders (order close-out, critical goods, month-end procedures, etc.);
- In collaboration with the Market, support production operations related to packaging image changes, government legislation and the introduction of new products;
- Coordinates imports and exports of tobacco materials from/to the MTL plant with other JTI plants and stakeholders;
- Maintains communication channels between the plant and departments (Logistics, Finance, etc.);
- Support the Manufacturing Services & Logistics team.
Qualifications and Experience
- College diploma (DEC) or bachelor’s degree (asset);
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in inventory management in a manufacturing environment, including people management.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word);
- Motivation and strong performance-driven mindset;
- Clear and effective communication, demonstrating tact, interpersonal skills, and courtesy;
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in task execution;
- Methodical, well-organized, and able to manage priorities effectively;
- Demonstrates autonomy and reliability;
- Knowledge of ERP systems;
- Knowledge of SAP (asset);
- Proficiency in both French and English, spoken and written.
