Merchandising Manager
What this position is about – Purpose
The purpose of this role is to lead merchandising strategy and execution for Modern Trade (MT) and General Trade (GT), ensuring best-in-class in-store presence, planogram compliance and visibility standards in the channel. Reporting to the Trade Investment & Merchandising |Manager, the Merchandising Manager (MT/GT) owns the design, deployment and compliance of merchandising solutions in MT/GT, ensuring alignment with brand priorities, retailer requirements, field execution feasibility and effectiveness in driving brand presence.
Main areas of responsibility:
- Merchandising Standards and Strategy: Set clear, scalable channel standards, planograms and visibility principles aligned with brand priorities, retailer needs and market realities.
- POSM/PPOSM Management: Lead allocation, deployment, maintenance and rotation, coordinating suppliers, Sales and field teams for timely, cost-effective execution.
- Execution and Field Enablement: Monitor compliance, equip field teams with guidance and training, and address execution gaps or misuse.
- Performance and Coordination: Track visibility, compliance, POSM use and outlet coverage, driving improvements with Sales, RTC, Planning and Trade Investment.
- Compliance: Ensure merchandising and in-store visibility meet JTI Marketing Codes and applicable laws.
Who we are looking for – Requirements:
- Degree in Business, Marketing or a related field; postgraduate qualification preferred.
- 5+ years in FMCG merchandising, trade marketing, category management or field execution across MT and GT.
- Experience implementing merchandising standards and planograms.
- Experience managing the full POSM/PPOSM lifecycle.
- Experience working with suppliers, retailers and field partners.
- Knowledge of tobacco legislation, taxation and marketing standards.
- Professional proficiency in English and Arabic.
- Expertise in merchandising, planograms, space planning and assortment.
- Understanding brand strategy and in-store execution.
- Expertise in POSM lifecycle and vendor management, including quality control, cost efficiency and deployment logistics.
- Solid knowledge of Modern Trade/key account requirements, General Trade realities and their respective constraints.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and execution-tracking or BI tools.
- Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills across Brand, key accounts, Regional Sales, RTC and field teams.
