MECHANICAL ENGINEERING SUPERVISOR
This role supports the smooth and safe operation of the GLT factory in Bangladesh by overseeing maintenance planning, procurement, execution, and reporting. The position ensures mechanical systems run efficiently and reliably, while upholding safety standards. Key responsibilities include scheduling work, providing technical support, resolving mechanical issues, and coordinating contractor activities. The role also focuses on team development, fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and continuous improvement
As the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor, you will:
Management Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the team to understand and meet their needs, while fostering One Team spirit
- Develop and manage department goals, in line with strategic objectives
- Provide oversight and leadership to direct reports, ensuring JTI values are upheld
- Set direction, evaluate performance, and align necessary resources to develop, motivate and inspire team to achieve high results with a quest for continuous improvement
Planning:
- Carry out annual and strategic Opex and Capex investment studies and planning for leaf Bangladesh's Machinery and equipment servicing, improvements and upgrades
- Coordinate preparation of budgets for ASP, OLs (incorporate identified Opex from investment studies)
Conduct meetings with function heads to design and agree specs for key projects to ensure timely delivery - Manage all aspects of SAP, PR, GR, Monitoring, ensuring all submission deadlines are met, according to agreed times with finance
Opex Procurement & Execution:
- Work with functional heads and GIP to develop maintenance execution plan
- Support GIP on pre-screening supplier capability to deliver quality works
- Monitor execution plan to ensure works commence as planned
- Manage vendors with respect to quality and compliance to safety standards
- Alert Management on any potential delays in execution
- Monitor and control expenses to be in line with the plan
Installing and maintenance monitoring and Reporting
- Provide monthly updates on Opex/Capex project status to stakeholders
- Ensure technical support for new installations and preventive maintenance
- Address breakdowns and implement weekend maintenance during processing
- Identify and resolve quality issues with vendors
- Sign off on completed projects and ensure adherence to JTI standards
- Engage with GIP for spare parts and consumables procurement
- Support production teams with improvement initiatives
- Maintain SAP records (PR, GR, PM module, equipment, and locations)
- Analyze downtime data and conduct failure analysis to recommend corrective action
Policy, Standards & Best Practices:
- Implement budget planning policies and ensure timely spare parts requests
- Monitor team-related expenditures and conduct cost-benefit analyses with finance
- Deliver end-user training on SAP PM spare parts
- Maintain ISO documentation and actively support IWS initiatives
EHS & Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures
- Use appropriate PPE and report hazards or injuries promptly
- Ensure team compliance with JTI safety standards
- Conduct risk assessments for all activities with EHS support
- Close out safety action items on time and participate in EHS programs
- Promote and embody a strong daily safety culture
