LEAF BLENDING SUPERVISOR

The incumbent will develop a sound understanding of the Processing facility and manage all aspect of Leaf blending, quality control and associated operations activities.

The responsibilities will further include the development and control of all leaf processing budget, development and control of all leaf processing strategies and execution thereof, control of all blend make-ups, quality outcomes and origin inspection requirements.  The incumbent will manage links between production, QA, engineering & warehouse through sound planning, inspection, and process monitoring as one team. The incumbent is responsible for blend planning,green logistics coordination  OTP (Butted / HS) operations and effective management of F2S and power user responsibilities. 

The position will monitor training of the leaf blending subordinates and develop strong succession plans and ensure the development of the team. The incumbent is required to manage and control all reporting to local, regional, and global management.

As the Leaf Blending Supervisor, you will do:

  • Blending & Classification Operations:
  • Supervises the quality of the blend at all stages of Leaf planning, Leaf blending, processing, guiding the subordinates when deviations are perceived, to ensure the maintenance of the qualitative standards and chemical (nicotine and sugar) levels of the blends through:
    • Effective green leaf planning and coordination of logistics with relevant stakeholders, ensuring that stock levels are appropriately maintained at GLT.
    • Efficient management of all processing and blending to ensure blend uniformity and consistency.
    • Supporting IG alignment, in conjunction with LPI/GLQ teams, prior to processing and trial packs.
    • Ensuring all trial packs are aligned and approved, as per set standard grade requirements.
    • Monitor and train subordinates with regards to blending and processing quality parameters.
    • Monitor all factory NCP handling and ensure correct procedures are followed regarding refeeds.
    • Monitor all yield and production reporting, chemistries, NCP's, NTRM and other related Quality data.
  • Internal Grade classification and Semi Finished (OTP) production:
  • Supervise all factory and OTP classification in line with the IG parameters through:
    • Efficient management of all blending and feeding line activities to ensure uniformity and consistency.
    • Monitor all factory pickings & setout and assign to specified blends and ensure all OTP setout , scraps and stem is correctly captured and data input into Leaf point.
    • In conjunction with the leaf team, set-up IG classification samples for blending and evaluation and ensure HS and Butted operations are aligned to Blend requirements.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Assist the QC Manager with all processing quality assurance and LPI inspections to ensure:
    • All inspections achieve set blend quality and standard grade parameters.
    • Ensure all packed lots and MoPi's meet specified chemistry and quality parameters.
    • Manage factory leaf NTRM & Quality checkers to achieve set quality parameters.
    • Monitor and correct Technical Quality issues during production.
    • Ensure all quality inspections meet and conform to the Quality assurance Manuals.
  • Systems Maintenance:
    • Ensure correct maintenance of all system transactions in line with LPS recommendations and Internal audit controls:
      • Ensure correct Leaf point data entry by subordinates during semi-finished (OTP) production.
      • Ensure all Power User functionalities and testing environments are addressed quickly and effectively for the processing F2S function.
      • Ensure correct data reporting with regards to Semi finished Yield calculations and Production Yields.
      • Train and develop subordinates to become sufficient in Leaf Systems and reporting as back up power users for Leaf point functionality.
      • Assist with local logistics and ensure all required tobacco is shipped to GLT for production in a timely manner.
  • Talent Development and Training:
  • Lead, develop and motivate the blending and processing teams to successfully achieve their set business objectives while strengthening the succession pool across the function:
    • Continue investment in development of all Leaf blending employees using internal and external trainings, regular assessment, fit gap analysis and focused development.
  • EHS & Other Duties:
    • Participate in cross functional projects as assigned by the Functional Manager.
    • Support Agronomy in areas related to data collection, farmer training, Farmer development and other adhoc duties assigned by Agronomy Manager.
    • Ensure all EHS requirements are adhered to following the JTI EHS principle and ensure all subordinates are following these minimum standards.
    • Ensure correct and safe rider safety principles to ensure all safety PPE and training is firmly deployed and adopted by all employees.

 

Who are we looking for?

  • A graduate with a University or Bachelor's Degree.
  • At least 3 years of Leaf and Blending knowledge from Tobacco industry.
  • Fluent in oral & written English and Bengali.
  • Knowledge of Tobacco supply chain
  • Strategic planning ability
  • Analytical ability.
  • People management.
