LEAF BLENDING MANAGER

The incumbent will be responsible for planning and carrying out all tasks associated with ASP, Budgeting, development of important metrics, people management, and all operational functions connected to blending, chemistry delivery, quality assurance, blend maintenance, and Leaf point data accuracy. 

The responsibilities will further include the monitoring and control of every leaf processing and blending activity, power user responsibilities F2S, monthly reconciliations, data reporting, T&E monitoring, and talent development.  

The incumbent is responsible for managing and controlling all reporting to local, regional, and global management. This reporting must meet established business goals and align with the Leaf Quality Director.

As the Leaf Blending Manager, you will do:

  • Planning and Strategy:
    • Strategize and plan for Run of crop utilization to ensure maximization of usable tobacco in our blends.
    • Plan all Blends inline with crop throw estimations and ensure direction is in line with global specifications.
    • Coordinate and align quality direction requirements with all subordinates and ensure strong cooperation with global functions.  
    • Monitor all Power user requirements and ensure UAT testing is completed in a timely manner.
    • Plan and execute all T&E budgeting and align with P&A Manager.
    • Develop policies and procedures for the department and align with the Leaf quality Manager.Assist in maintaining and updating EHS policies, procedures, and IMS documentation.
  • Blending Operations:
  • Monitor the quality of the blend at all stages of Leaf blending, OTP process, processing, guiding the subordinates when deviations are perceived, to ensure the maintenance of the qualitative standards and chemical (nicotine and sugar) levels of the blends through:
    • Monitor green leaf planning and coordination of logistics with relevant stakeholders, ensuring close collaboration with the Warehouse and Logistics teams.
    • Monitor all blends to ensure uniformity and consistency and provide quick solutions to quality integrity issues.
    • Supporting IG alignment, in conjunction with LPI/GLQ teams, prior to processing and trial packs.
    • Monitor all yield and production reporting, chemistries, NCP's, NTRM and other related Quality data.   .
  • Quality and Blend Management:
  • Assist the Leaf Quality Manager with all processing quality assurance and LPI inspections to ensure:
    • Monitor and ensure all quality related specifications and blend parameters are being adhered to and followed in line with global quality expectations.
    • Monitor all specification provided from QA team to ensure compliance to quality expectations.
    • Monitor all quality inspections meet and conform to the Quality assurance Manuals and identify opportunities for process improvement.
    • Provide solutions and quick decisions for all issues related to blend uniformity and consistency.
  • Systems Maintenance and Reporting:
    • Ensure correct maintenance of all system transactions in line with LPS recommendations and Internal audit controls:
      • Monitor and report on all Leaf point data entry by subordinates during semi-finished (OTP) production.
      • Monitor and effectively implement solutions for all Power User functionalities.
      • Ensure all environments are addressed quickly and effectively for the processing F2S function.
      • Monitor data reporting with regards to Semi finished Yield calculations and Production Yields and ensure full reconciliation of such.
      • Provide oversight and on the job training for all subordinates related to the F2S functionalities.
      • Follow up with all Internal audit observations and provide feedback and action plans inline with audit requirements.              .
  • Talent Development and Training:
  • Lead, develop and motivate the blending and processing teams to successfully achieve their set business objectives while strengthening the succession pool across the function:
    • Continue investment in development of all Leaf blending employees using internal and external trainings, regular assessment, fit gap analysis and focused development.
  • EHS & Other Duties:
    • Participate in cross functional projects as assigned by the Functional Manager.
    • Support Agronomy in areas related to data collection, farmer training, Farmer development and other adhoc duties assigned by Agronomy Manager.
    • Ensure all EHS requirements are adhered to following the JTI EHS principle and ensure all subordinates are following these minimum standards.
    • Ensure correct and safe rider safety principles to ensure all safety PPE and training is firmly deployed and adopted by all employees 

 

Who are we looking for?

  • A graduate with a University or Bachelor's Degree, or with equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of Leaf and Blending knowledge from Tobacco industry.
  • Fluent in oral & written English and Bengali.
  • Knowledge of Tobacco supply chain
  • Strategic planning ability
  • Analytical ability.
  • People management.
